    Check the image below.

    Think for a bit.

    Realize anything?

    That's right.

Porting of weapons from one race to another is now possible- nay, within relatively easy reach.

With Kilandor's help we also discovered how to inject higher resolution bitmaps into object that normally would reject them; there are limits, of course, but this blows the can wide open. Doing is easy, teaching is hard as they say; I'll figure out how to write a tutorial in the next day or so.

Could this also be applied to armor?

I've been working on changing Ulmia's body piece to Mithra usable but I just can't seem to get in even 10min of time it seems lately, and I don't have any free spots in my schedule for another 2 weeks or so?

      Yes, this is possible.

Complicated, but possible. Moreso because mithra have tails.

wait do you mean porting of weapons or porting of the stance people are in when they hold the weapon? Cuz weapons themselves stay pretty much the same across races don't they o.0

          Re: Skeletons in the closet

Most currently developed custon weapons only work for one race, because they aren't bound to the correct skeleton, and until now wasn't even possible to do due to lack of tools. However, now anything can be ported anywhere with enough time.

Wait, now I can get rid of the Hume's goofy Great Sword, Bow, Gun, and X-bow stances, and use the Elvaan ones? That's a reason to cheer.

No, you misunderstand. Stances don't change. But you can now bind any object to a PC's native stances.

What hes saying is. Before say you tried to take A dat weapon made for Say Elvaan Male. And just put it and replace it with a Hume Male Weapon. It wouldn't work correct, I it would ahve to be changed completely from the start. What we found now is how to Attach the Weapon/Armor to the proper skeleton, so you can make it once, then just change the skeleton its attached to then expor to each race one at a time. Rather than re-designing it from scratch.

As for armor it would be a little more complex, due to different body shapes. You couldn't just port Say Mithra body to Hume body, unless you wanted your Hume to look like a mithra.

Good, cause I would like to take some beastman made weapons into the Enlightened Races Hands (Like the Demon Degin remodeled)

What I want to try to figure out is to increese the resolution of the actual texture files enough to make up for the huge streaching issues in some parts of the body.

But very cool! I will anctiously await your tutorial on that.

                          Re: Skeletons in the closet

I know now how to re-map the Textures, to choose what goes where. But let me tell you.....Its not pretty. it would be Very Very Very Very time consuming to re-place all of the UV selections. For UV selections, You choose where you want to have it show so Say you have 200 Polygons, you have to set where each polygon is getting the texture from.

So far from playing around, I can't find a way to move a full Polygon, what you do is, you ahve to move each individual Vertex, which every single vertex on the UV map is linked, so you have to move thing exactly right. Maybe there is a easier way i'm not sure.

Unless....And i'm thinking about trying. The BMP containing the texture was reworked... Because you can choose say XY XZ YZ, Wrap methods where it just takes the texture and maps it, Now this method would be easy... Jus the texture BMP's would have to be reworked to the right place to get it to map correctly. Now once you got a default layout... it should be pretty simple to go from there...But say wraping around armor might wrap just a little different, and Race to Race would wrap different, A taru Texture isn't going to wrap the same as a Elvaan

There could be an easier way but who knows.

                          Edit-

Well I was just looking at one model part and I see how they did it. And well it would make things a little easier Sorta. They bascily chose say the waist, and made a maping for that area, then one for say below waist, and made one for that, and just continue down.

A little less dificult but possible, or if you was creating your own complete texture it might not be so bad. Still a little time consuming though I think.

Yeah, I realized what he meant. I was trying to ask, will you be able to do something similar with the animation skeletons. I'm not sure what the maximum VRS capabilities are, but say, match points on the hume skeleton to the elvaan skeleton to cause a similar look.

No, you cannot port animations from one race to another. Not possible.

                              Double Post Edited:
As an aside, this also opens up wacky options like using a spear model for a sword or a greatsword for a polearm. It may not animate well, but it should be worth a chuckle.
