Well, if it's about how the Update.TXT looks all scrunched together when you click on it, I can explain why that is. Chances are you're using Internet Explorer or something like that. Your web browser is confused and thinks that the .TXT file is an .HTML file... So it treats it as such. There's HTML code for spacing and paragraph indents and the like. But that's not in the .TXT file.
To get around this problem, you can do one of two things.
In the top left hand corner of the browser hit File, then hit Save As... and save it to your PC then open it with Notepad or something like that.
Or... Right Mouse Click inside the page and select View Source. Hitting View then Source in the upper left hand corner of your browser works fine too.
...
But... "Incomprehensible"? Tee-hee-hee!
I'm not sure, but you may be talking about my "Update.TXT", right? Regarding the way my comments were written?
Well, to me that's a bit of a strong word to use. I like to consider it more along the lines of me being la--- No... Not even "lazy". More like "tired".
Generally I have alot of other projects I'm working on during the daytime-- I don't bother updating the .DAT collection until sometime in the evening if you noticed the Timestamps in the .TXT file. I'm not really a "morning person" as it were.
Try to place yourself within my shoes.
January was a very bad month for me-- I was pretty much without my computer for a whole month and had to jump from friends and family member's houses for internet access. And even then it was mainly to do homework for college.
Because I'm doing several projects, and I'm in college, my time is becomming more and more divided. And it also seems rather silly to me to make a whole bunch of little updates every three days or so. It seems better to me to make one big update every once in a while.
Now usually, because I do these big updates, these consume alot of time. I GREATLY thank all of you who include pictures with your .DATs and also name them accordingly. It saves me a whole lot of time. Usually these large updates can take upwards of five hours or longer. Why, you ask? Well there's several things that need to be done...
First, there'll be some .DATs that'll actually be Password Protected. So I'll have to struggle and tussle with them for about 30+ minutes or so trying to get past the encryptions some way or another just to get the .DAT to you guys. Sometimes these filenames will be zipped in .LZH format (a type of .ZIP archive that Japanese modders tend to favor) and the .DAT or folders inside will have "???"s in the filename. Of course, my computer will throw a hissy-fit and not want to open it because of "Invalid Characters In The Filename". So I need to use another program to go inside the archive and rename the file manually before it's even unzipped. Then there'll be .DATs that won't have all the pieces... those that'll have foreign names... and those that won't have pictures...
Of course, I have to provide all three. While I do know atleast basic Japanese and can recognize words, letters, names, colors, etc... It's still a nuisance to have to rename these-- load them into the model viewer by hand-- snap a picture-- save it-- do it for the other .DATs-- rename it-- slap it in a folder-- and do it all over again. I really thank Nicolette, my little Tarutaru lady-friend and our little adventures we have on good ol' Quetzalcoatl, and I thank Rones as well who pointed me to the .DATs in the first place. And of course I thank you all who've contributed as well.
Then there's waiting for the whole thing to .ZIP up, and then the hassle of using an FTP program to upload it into my personal website that I pay both Quarterly (Every 3 Months) and Yearly fees to keep running. And finally making a post telling you all that I've updated. So by the end of all this, I'm really "dragging ass" so to speak.
I'm not trying to "come down on you guys". I'm just telling you all that "I'm going out of my way to do this all for you". So if I seem to be "dismissive" in my Update.TXT, please take into consideration that (I'm sleepy.) Hahahahaha!
But don't worry. It's all good.
Like I said, I'm trying to overhaul my personal website. Which is why I was asking for help with Flash earlier.
Plus there's the Super Mario Bros. DAT... and the Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! .DAT
I've been working with SEVERAL programs in the past week...
· Adobe Photoshop CS2 · Adobe ImageReady CS2 · Adobe Premiere Pro · Adobe After Effects · 3D Studio Max · Virtual Reality Studio · MetaSequoia · Ulead PhotoImpact 11 · Ulead PhotoImpact XL · Cool Edit Pro · Jasc Animation Shop · Macromedia Flash Studio 8 Pro · Microsoft Frontpage · Medusa (For Anime Subtitles) · Sabbu (For Anime Subtitles) · Subtitle Workshop (For Anime Subtitles) · XombieSub (For Anime Subtitles) · Aegisub (For Anime Subtitles) · VirtualDub · FRAPS (For recording live video games)
... I either bought these, downloaded the "FreeWare" version of these, or used old versions I had lying around.
I'm an "Ex Anime Fansubber", and "Anime Music Video Creator" I even have some of my work still lying around if any of you'd like to sample it.
I'm using all these programs because two of the things I'd like to do is:
1. Get into 3-D modeling. With my .DATs, all I've been doing so far is just retexturing. I want to tweak the models now and "expand my horizons".
2. I want to make an FFXI Movie and / or Series. That's why I made that "Advanced Cartography" thread a while back.
Honestly? You only live life once-- If you're gonna dream; dream BIG! I've always wanted to do big things and atleast earn a bit of acclaim while making people happy at the same time. With this .DAT set, I've atleast satisfied you guys I know-- And even with my Super Mario Bros. DAT I gave you all a few laughs.
But don't worry... I have more things"in store" for you all. The best has yet to come. So stay tuned and keep supporting me, everyone else here, and each other. Thank you again.
Long time no see guys - sorry I havn't been around. Just making the announcement as of the end of Feb I won't be playing FFXI anymore til the Expansion Pack. It just doesn't have that luster anymore - nor really the fun.
Besides it doesn't have gnomes I can kill. For those of you trying to reach me on AIM my boyfriend predominately uses my computer so 90% of the time I'm unreachable.
Will I continue modding? Probably but I'm also trying to learn to make mods for World of Warcraft.
I'll see you guys soon though if SE isn't dumb and releases the FFXI xp before/after Burning Crusade...
