The resemblence to humanoids would most likely be a way for them to appear more interactive to humanoids. (That is, we associate better with other beings like ourselves.) There's no genitalia, I know. But if only genitalia was sexually stimulating, then life would be pretty boring. of course there's something to cover up, Monet. If you can't see the big honking melons on Shiva, then you may not have a thing for women. However, I'm not saying this to mean they should be covered up, just disproving Monet's claim that genitalia is necessary before a humanoid is considered suggestive or perverted.

As far as the new skin goes, I don't particularly care for it in its current state. Don't really like the ice gloves either. I'd say simplify it a bit... go back to basic colors and designs, add a little bit of detail and variance to that to set it apart from the original, then see what people think. If you want to try ice gloves then, have 2 images, one with your reskin and one with reskin + ice gloves. I don't think a compressed in-game image is gonna cut it.

Regardless of Shiva's "Big Honking Melons", as you so eloquently put it, if you find mythological cartoon characters so "Sexually Stimulating" that you need to play dress up with them because you're afraid of your reactions once you quit typing, then by all means carry on.

As for liking women, Mr. Insinuation, had I a thing for women, I wouldn't have the 3 wonderful kids that I do. Don't base your judgement of my character and persona on the loose belief that all "girls" are uptight and shy. I, personally, don't find Shiva attractive, either as a human or a cartoon. Therefore, I don't feel the need to put clothes on her to hide my shame.

Does that make my position clearer?

Ryad, body apperance better not be the sole thing that sexually stimulates you. In truth that myth is all based around the culture, a nudist colony proves this. They aren't in some orgy fest or anything, they do all the normal daily stuff just as a clothed person would. Anyone going to a nudist colony for the intent of just oogling would get kicked out of there very fast. You can also find this same of many tribes in different areas of the world.

Many sexually stimulating things that are precieved is a result of the culture and their actions. Also keep in mind that the animorphic Summons for the breast region also excludes anything that is more identified as sexually appealing by many cultures such as the nipples. In essense the only ones that would see that image as sexually appealing are people of a culture influencing that behavior.

I love how shiva looks now - just wish the gloves weren't quit as fuzzy as the picture seems to show - however I do wish she could add an alpha channel to the arm-things to make them look a bit tattered - ice doesn't have to have perfect arm clothes <.<

I love all the other ones you've showed us so far... and can't wait to see the finished product of Shiva. I Honestly like the idea, but wanna see a better picture. Its really hard to see what she looks like from the screencap shown above. if your having problems trying to host a full size, undistorted picture on a website. www.photodump.com does it pretty easily. just a thought. >:D i wanna see a detailed Picture!

As far as the whole cloths debate does... Maybe i'm a pervert but i like the no cloths on her. i think if we focused the attention and detailed on her Icy Arms/legs as he's been doing, it'll look awesome. I don't see how putting as Nicolette put it, "Minimal" Clothing on her is going to enhance her. I'd say focus on the arms legs and color scheme and make her shine!

Do you live in a nudist colony? I've always wondered... do they get dressed to turn each other on? Oh, you don't live in a nudist colony... ok, so your point is that although certain cultures exist that do not glorify breasts as funbags, you're not part of one. Ok. That helps... really.

Look, I'm not saying there aren't many ways to be turned on, whether physically, emotionally, flatulently... whatever. All I'm saying is that genitalia is not the only physical sexual attribute of a humanoid character, or else we'd all be running around in Vana'diel exposed. Let's try to keep our perspective instead of trying to be Internet Forum Hero.

I can't speak for everyone, but a plain cloth dress/skirt whatever wouldn't really enhance her. What would is the way her clothes have looked in past FFs.

This is what I envision shiva as personally, and if you were to go the "naked route" I would still want it kept to classic FF style as it already is. (For non FF buffs the current shiva model is based most directly on FF8's shiva http://www.squareultima.com/ff8/shiva-body.jpg )

I have a question re: NVIDA utilities mentioned above... I use an ATI card. Will installing those untilities conflict with it, since they seem to be written for a different brand?


Also, what is the "automatic" way to back up your textures so that you can't mess up your game? I've heard awful things about people having to totally reinstall after editing their .DATs.

only reason you'd have to re-install is if you deleted a dat or renamed it and forgot to make another file of the same name. People that delete a .dat and re-install aren't very bright. All they need to do is either get the .dat from somebody else or copy another one and rename it to the missing .dat

I have an ATI card and I still use the Nvidia things, so you should be fine
