I edited the Taru DRg armor too, made it a light blue, looks pretty cool i think... I also like your Crimson version... its almostlike Dark Knight meets Dragon Knight looking. Good job

Isn't the Artifact Armor Sterling, Dark Blue, with silver trim and Black shadowing? Seriously, the Artifact armor is just a phase and a coming of age set. And also, each class kind of has it's color, some of them share colors, but Red Mage is typically the one with red.... and Drg are classicly purple. Artifact armor is about the old school look, if you don't like it then outgrow it, you can't replace the oldschool look because you don't like it.
Learning > Intelligence > Experience. Weak minds are subject to experience before realization. Inteligent minds understand quickly with minimal experience. Learned minds excersise knowledge gained from study, and do not require experience to reach realization. Which is your claim?
I think it is a tad bit too dark. DRG is a very shiny piece of equipment. The change is a little radical. I think it should be lighter(this game adds enough shadow as it is).
