Re: any guide to model editing?

I'm pretty sure I've located the problem. The .mcd files seem to contain information on each vertex in the model (You can open it up in notepad). Have Metasequoia count the verticies and look at the number listed in the .MCD file, they are the same. You can move the verticies around to wherever you want and everything will convert normally. However, if you delete any vertices, the model will not convert correctly back into a .DAT.

After confirming this, I tried adding vertices while not chaning anything else. Nothing new will show up, but the original model is not affected even when I tried intersecting new faces. Then, when i deleted some of the old vertices, the new ones appeared up until I deleated more than the original number of vertices. So basically, I had originally 76 vertices. I added 4. Those 4 would not appear when converted until I deleated 4 from the original. Once I deleated 5, the model became distorted again.

Next, I tried deleting 5 lines in the [Vertex] section of the .MCD file. Then I deleted 5 verticies from the model so that the number of lines and vertices would match. This distorted the model on import.

I'm fairly positice the .mcd file does not contain information on each vertex's location. What it does contain, I don't know yet. From the screenshots I've seen of VRS, I think that it somewhat solves this problem by providing the [Vertex] information, but I cannot confirm this as the resoulution of the picture was poor and I am unable to repeat the process because I cannot read Japanese. However, i threw Burumakun's Site through World Lingo Translator to see if there is any mention on how to solve this and there wasn't. One page ther did show a way of removing a part of an armor by scaling it down and hiding it inside the main body. That makes me think that by simply editing in Metasequoia, you cannot delete verticies. What I believe to be is links to his tutorials on VRS are now linked to .DAT files of Elvaan and Mithra Nudes, though one has a Elvaan Female body with a tail so that would support the addition and deletion of vertices through some sort of program (which I'm going to assume is VRS).

Anyway, until I figure out how to change the [Vertex] info in the .MCD, I won't be able to create or change any weapons or armor to my liking.

*EDIT* BTW, to Login and PW to use VRS is "Guest." Input it into both fields.
