You can make Green Berets up to 76. You'll lose money on this though, as opposed to making Rainbow Threads. The most depressing FFXI moment ever... http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/SNAG-783.jpg

Thanks for the replies, maybe I will start trying battle bracers soon. I've got about 1.5 mil saved up, however, i'm also trying to buy a haubergeon, so i'm not sure whether I should spend it crafting or just keep saving until I can get the haubergeon.
If somebody already posted this and I missed it, please forgive me... but what was the npc selling price of Battle Bracers at max fame? Trying to calc cost/returns for this.
thanks!~

I looked into the Elite Beret recipe. It sucks. I looked at some alternatives... but I don't see anything that can build up your skill quickly past 90.
It seems like leveling past 90 will be extremely slow. You will have to find people to make stuff for (like Cursed equipment). I guess if you want to speed level, your best bet is to go for Giant Bird Plumes. Also, the Errant Hat recipe isn't bad either... you lose maybe the same as Giant Bird Plumes or maybe a little bit more. The most depressing FFXI moment ever... http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/SNAG-783.jpg

Wow, I've been away from my thread for a while >_>
Sorry about the absence everyone, but real life caught up with me. I've finally started levelling cloth again (whee!), and will post my latest progress as it happens.
I had an interesting time though, going between Shinobi Hakama and Rainbow Thread....sometimes one would be more cost-effective than the other, but it never was consistent, thus making for some frustrating levelling. I've primarily been building gil recently for my last push to the top, and I'll detail my profit synths in the next post.-pdac (retired)
At the endgame, I had: Full AF for RDM, RNG and NIN. Sky, Clothcraft 97, smithing 45 and far too much gil. My Jobs ended at RDM 75, NIN 65, RNG 59, BLM 37, WAR 33 and SMN 26. Finally, I synthed a Royal Cloak /signed/ for a friend.
Time to move on.
See you all on the flip side (*'-')/

Ok, I did a little more research...
88-94: The best way to level your clothcraft is by using the Giant Bird Plume recipe OR the Errant Slops recipe. The problem with the former is that the availability of GBPs is not that good. And even if there are some in stock, you'd have to wait around while your arrowheads sell at the Auction House. The Errant Slops recipe is practically similiar to the Arhat Hakama recipe, although instead of a silk thread, it uses a rainbow thread. With this being said, you are looking to spend around 15-16k PER synth. But the bright said is that you can sell the slops back to the vendor and you can always find the materials. You will most likely be spending around 2-3 million gil leveling up 88-94. Also note, Errant Slops require that you have enough skill in Leathercraft to be able to make Ram Leather.
94-95: Elite Berets. Simple recipe. Will cost you around 20k per synth I believe? May spend around 500k here.
95-100: There is no recipe to use here. From this point on, you have to rely on people to ask you to make items for them. You can also make occasional Cursed Items to sell in the Auction House--but remember they sell very slowly.
Remember that even when you're spending a lot of gil, as you approach the cap level of the item you're synthing, you have a better chance at a +1 version of the item. This is especially prevalent if you craft on lightsday with a full moon. I remember crafting Arhat Hakamas from 81-88... I had spent around 700k getting up to 88. While I was 87, I had synthed four +1 versions, selling each for 250k, so I actually profited 300k. If the same can be done with Errant Slops, you will find yourself making back the money in no time. Good luck! The most depressing FFXI moment ever... http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/SNAG-783.jpg

I crafted rainbow cloth to 79. I made 3 and a half stacks and I still have them... haven't sold them, lol. I may save them to try to make a Prism Cape when I hit a higher level. From 79-81, I made tons of Jester's Headbands and a couple of Devottees Mitts. The most depressing FFXI moment ever... http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/SNAG-783.jpg
