silk isn't that hard to farm, it's just annoying, mostly due to the fact that the zones with a bunch of crawlers are the windy newbie zones, and everyone and thier brother farms there, at 50 you should be fine in the maze

Lvl 4-6
First of all, great guide! It's nice to see something on clothcrafting.
Second of all, I had a question on clothcraft lvls 4-6. I went to Giddeus at lvl 5 clothcrafting, got about 3 stacks of grass thread and synthed them into one stack of grass cloth, went back to Windurst, got adv. image support, and started making Hachimakis on Darksday (I'm not sure about this, but isn't that the best day for skillup?) I had 7 tries at making them, as one failed with only crystal loss, and I got a total skillup of 0.1.
Bilingual Website says (6-11) for Hachimaki, so I'm guessing the skill gain goes up. I got to lvl 5 by using Capes (although I'm sure there's a much better way to do this, they didn't sell for much and I didn't skill too quickly), and next day I went and farmed Saruta cotton, got to lvl 6.5 by making Cotton Thread and some Cotton Cloth.
What I'm wondering about Hachimakis is, was I just incredibly unlucky when I synthed mine? I was getting much more consistent skillups off of the Cotton stuff at this lvl, got about 1.2 in skillups off of one stack of Saruta cotton.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: 1.2 or 1.1, I added wrongServer: Asura

OK, I USEALY DONT WRITE IM COMPLETE CAPS, BUT HERE GOES ANYWAYS!
DO NOT <---- MAKE HACHIMAKIES FROM 4-11, ON MY SERVER (Odin) THEY SELL FOR 200G AT AH, BUT NEVER SELL FAST, SO YOU ARE FORCED TO SELL TO SHOP, FOR 156G PER.
Ok enough with the caps, anyways heres the math:
For 2 stacks of grass cloth it costs 8K + 1 stack on wind crystals 2K = 10K
They sell for 156G each, so 156 X 12 = 1872G!
Total loss = 8128 per 12 hachimaki!
On the other hand you could do..... Cotton thread!
Saruta cotton ball per 2 stacks 8K + lightning crystal 1K = 9K
Per thread they sell 500G, but not very quick so sell in stacks of 12 for 6K
Total loss = 4K per 12 threads, not so bad, is it?
:spin:

Sorry its been so long everyone, I had a bit of a carpal tunnel scare
Levelling has gotten me a long ways this time, and the next class session will be posted very soon. Bear with me a little longer.
As for those on phoenix who contacted me, I'm glad I heard from you. Good luck with your endeavors out there.-pdac (retired)
At the endgame, I had: Full AF for RDM, RNG and NIN. Sky, Clothcraft 97, smithing 45 and far too much gil. My Jobs ended at RDM 75, NIN 65, RNG 59, BLM 37, WAR 33 and SMN 26. Finally, I synthed a Royal Cloak /signed/ for a friend.
Time to move on.
See you all on the flip side (*'-')/

ANOTHER WARMING ALL IN CAPS! BESIDES THE HACHIMAKI (look 2 posts up and you will see what i said) DO NOT BY ANY MEANS MAKE THE KENGOPI from 11-18!
Math: 1 Grass Thread (100G) + 3 Grass Cloth (3 ---> 1200) + 1 Earth Crystal (30G) = Kengopi (400G)
---> Total Loss = 930G PER SYNTHISIS!
Other options: Linnen Thread
Math: 2 Flax Flower (2 ---> 582G) + 1 Lightning Crystal (100G) = 2 Linnen Thread (2 ---> 783G)
---> Total Loss = +101G PER SYNTH! YOU ACTUALY GAIN MONEY!
Yes i do realise that Pdac said that you might fail a lot on the linnen thread but still, loosing 930G per synth on kengopi's for 7 levels just isnt my type of thing. Hope ive helped!

thing with linen thread/cloth is that you have to catch the guild on a good day, prices vary from 182 up to around 300 per flax flower, so some times it is profitable, some times it's not. the reason pdac was saying go kenpogi, was because bead necklaces have a decent drop rate, where as you would have to harvest flax flower (something i've not done, so i can't say how good the rate is on that) so it's really quite a variable there... and besides you can always ask a higher clothcrafter to atempt desynths so you can get materials back, and if it fails it wouldn't really be a loss if you farmed everything
most importantly, the thing to remember is that this is a _GUIDE_ for clothcrafting not a _YOU MUST DO THIS OR DIE_ for clothcrafting so you may need to look into other options, i personally did the linen thread/cloth because it was 182-212 when i did those levels, so it was nice making some money, but the sale rate on the cloth stacks was low as dirt... took like three days...

Ok after finally getting up to lvl 55..... *Thank you Mallii my gf... she is the reason I am at lvl 55 only spending about 45-50k lvl 30 thfs rock* anyway I figured I could desynth a few goblin armors and mass produce cotten threads from Hq synths a lvl 12 recipe by the guide that I have. Well even with synth support I still failed 5 out 10 time and got a hq synth twice. To me that's not worth it, but it is the only way to mass produce cotten threads. Well that or Coats. I suggest not messing with desynth until you are already finacially happy so that all of the failures don't bother you. As for the Kenpogi... linen thread debate... definately linen threads. That covers a mass of levels by itself plus you can save the thread and turn it into cloth with gets you even higher into levels then the cloth sells well in stacks or you can use it in some of the money recipes later. Either way I did Yugado fletchings from 12-22 and they served me well a lot of failures at first but they were cheap and worked. Velvet cloth however doesn't seem to sell fast on my server don't know about yours but I would save the silk threads for silk cloths too. That's all I can think of for right now, but I will still post after a few responces.May death be quick and painless.

Anyone know any alternate roots to go from level 22 to 30? Right now, with the soil hacimaki, I'm looking at about 4.5k per synth, and selling them back (slowly) to the Jueno AH for 1.5k. I'm going to run out of money fast with that. ;_;

Fly lures, need a little bit of bone crafting, Earth crystal + Chocobo feather + Bat fang + Animal Glue
you can cut your loss with this one and farm materials, I just happened to be leveling two jobs through Garlaige Citadel, and asked my pts if i could get the bat fangs for crafting, 9/10 they said okay, the other one was japanese, so I didn't know how to ask and didn't worry too much about it, also animal glue is dropped off Gob ambushers, if you want a spot close to windy there's a tower north of giddeus you can farm them in, just leave the lowbie gobs for the levelers, there are also bats if you aren't lucky (or unlucky) enough to be leveling in garglaige at the time...

get about five or six, and it will cap out at 8, i already had 9 bone crafting at the time, so it wasn't an issue for me... simple way up, is bone hair pins till 4, then bone arrowheads are good till 9 (which is what i'd done prior just skilling up bone craft)
