none of the rare/ex replacements work in the synth recipes. ie: bounding->winged ; shikaree->sniper's
while it would be nice from a versatility standpoint, crafters would swarm those camp sites since the synths would be 99.5% profit

Like eticket said, if the R/EX version could be used to synth a sellable upgrade, we'd be right back to gil sellers camping these NMs. They'd just need to make sure a member of their pt had the appropriate crafting levels to get the drops. It would probably be less of a problem for Bounding Boots as it would be for Shikaree Ring (Sniper's +1 still sells for a kingly sum).Lyonheart
