  • Where do i Buy Bait?

ok i'm only about 7 days in to this game and really just starting to get a feel for it

and i have 2 fishing poles and no idea where to find/buy/craft bait so i can fish

i am 7 days in and i see the need for Gil in the later lvls of this game
so i wanted to get started some now so during my mid lvls i am not struggling to get the gil i need for decent weapons and armor

so if anyone could help that would be great

i have many other questions but i will stick to this one in this forum

    thx

    Double Post Edited:

Re: Where do i Buy Bait?

To get started you can buy Little Worms cheap.

In Windurst the best place to buy is the fishing guild.
In Bastok there's a shop behind the AH in Bastok Mines.
In San d'Oria there's an NPC stood outside Tormalia's Sundrees (SP?).

They only cost a few gil each so they're a good bait to start on, good far catching low level fish.

Re: Where do i Buy Bait?

Hello mate, I think i was fishing with you the other day?

I find knightwell is a good place to fish. All I seem to catch there is moat carp but thats good, they sell for 5,000gil a stack in AH

If you need some bait I can give you some to start you off. I think your already on my friends list

And ill quote Taskmage to give you something to think about...

Cooking and fishing go very well together.

At low to mid levels (to 60) it will save you a lot of gil over time to be able to make your own bait. Insect balls and crayfish paste are the best examples. Ingredients for a stack of insect paste can be obtained for less that 150 gil, but it sells for 500 or more. Crayfish paste ingredients cost less than 250 a synth, but the bait sells for ~1500 a stack. It adds up a lot, especially since those types of bait are used for two very important fish.

At higher levels, cooking gives you a way to turn your catches into a product that the market will absorb much more quickly. All tank food and all sushi, as well as some frequently used niche food like Tonosama Rice Balls and Flint Caviar, are based on fish. Turning your catches into dishes makes them sell faster and for more money.

Even low level fish do sell. Crayfish, Bastore Sardines, and especially Moat Carp are very decent sources of income to a starting fisher. You can even use the first two to start leveling cooking. Peeled Crayfish caps at 3, Steamed Crayfish at 9, and Sliced Sardines at 11, though you could find a cheaper synth to get your first few levels on than Peeled Crayfish.
