I'm just broke in general, tbh. I'm not going to risk the final 5k I have (hey, I've been spending it all on equipping my DRK!) on chocobos.

      I lost 1k.

And the guy next to me won a ticket that was worth 1.5k/quid. I think he said he won 20k on that ticket.

I keep breaking even. I like doing it since I can bet then go do other things and come back to see the results. Also I like putting some money on the longshot bets. Who knows, maybe one day I will hit one.

the races are not player controlled at all right? other than how that person raises their chocobo..?

Its how they are raised and what item you chose to have your chocobo use.

It was fun the first night, but it really has lost its edge though. I will bet on a set of birds that I know have the best chance to win. Then I will go and place one or two on long shots. Then I even out from winning with the good birds.

I heard a chocobo's stats don't matter. Had a guy bet on a 1st rate str and end only to lose cause of a deficient str/end chocobo.

                    Re: Anyone rich/broke from chocobetting?

Although str and end are plus's in the racer and mark the faster choco's, they usually have crap for their Disc, and Rec.

Low score in discernment means the choco has no idea when to use it's items or how to manage it's pace.... it may walk the entire race or run at a sprint and burn itself out in the first half of the race, crawling the rest of the way.

A Low score in Receptivity means they have little to no immunity against items used by the other jockeys in the race... leaving them wide open to any and all attacks by items... and more often than not, if you're in front (as a STR/END based choco usually is @ start of race) then you're the target :p

There are alot of factors that go into it, there's no real 'sure thing' thats why it's called betting

Heh, true enough, sorry about that. In my defense however it was on the first page of threads I wasn't really watching the dates. Perhaps an auto-archive feature, or a thread-lock after a certain period of time of inactivity.^^

                          My apologies.
