  • The Chocobo Date

OK, so I've raised a black chocobo on each of my characters, I'm breeding them for the races.

First chocobo is Kitten's, LuckyOutlaw. Strength and Endurance stats are high, Disernment and Receptivity are poor.

Second chocobo is Foobar's, CrimsonAngel. Strength and Endurance are poor, but Disernment and Receptivity are Average.

I want the baby (2nd generation) to be able to learn abilities early so I can move on to building it up for speed otherwise. So which date am I sending the chocobos on here?

    Re: The Chocobo Date

I'm assuming CrimsonAngel is the female. The dating plan won't matter too much, but I would suggest taking the Sports Plan. This will cause the male's attributes (Physical) to be inherited more frequently. You will first raise Discernment to Better than Average and learn Gallop. Once you start doing Long Walks, you will downgrade careplan to a tier 1 or 2 careplan--Basic Care is what I used, but the goal here is to get in two Long Walks per day until you get Brutus' Canter (Curious) Story. Once you have a story, drill it until learned using a Discernment careplan (probably Dig for Treasure). After both stories are learned switch to Tier 2 Careplan, Deliver Packages to get some basic strength and endurance on. You may also use Deliver Messages and Act in a Play--they counteract each other, but not in equal amounts, so they will eventually result in one of Strength and Receptivity being maxed and the other being slightly less so. You can't use Dig For Treasure when you begin final stage training--it will lower endurance.

    Probably:

    1. Deliver Packages to 1st Endurance.
    2. Deliver Messages to 1st Strength.
    3. Act in a play to 1st Receptivity.
    4. Repeat 2/3 until equilibrium (i.e. 1 day on results in 1st).
    5. Basic care to 149 days.

It is easier to learn the physical stories than the mental ones. I had Gallop before or just slightly after the chocobos reached Adult stage--I don't recall offhand, but it's in my Red Chocobo Experiment thread. Canter was not learned until Impressive (I think), but my chocobos may have just had Impressive and not necessarily needed it (again check Red Choco thread for specific details unless I forgot to post them <.< >.>).
