I was reading the Hybrid Chocobo thread, and many people said that they suck but...
Why?
The "choco-kid" says care plans are directly affected by the affection the chocobo has for you... so...
I have two chocobos with First Class stats (STR and END - DesertMirage, then DIS and REC - RainRhapsody) under 50-55 days, and I fed them Gahsyl Greens.
As chicks, each were fed their appropriate carrot (Vomp or Zegham). As Adolescents, I put them on a more vigorous care plan (Ex. Carry Packages), and fed them two of their appropriate carrots and one Gahsyl Green, then took them on a Regular Walk to keep their affection up.
As adults, all I fed them was 3 Gahsyl Greens, continued with their appropriate plans... And I had two with First Class stats under 55 days. I've raised about 6 chocobos total (I'm a little obsessed, I'll admit), and the last two have had their stats raise significantly quicker than the other two I raised feeding them carrots.
This experiment of mine makes me wonder about the value of Carrots/other foods after the chocobo's adulthood. It also enforces the belief that chocobo affection > all. With the greens I got to spend less time trying to boost affection (walks... ugh) and more time doing things to improve the desired stats (reading, competeing, etc.)...
Thoughts?
P.S. The Dis/Rec chocobo has been switched to a Dis/Str chocobo, the day her Dis and Rec reached First Class... so now her Str is Average and her Rec is Substandard... So I'm going off of what happened before.
