  • Re: Breeding a Speedy Chocobo

Day 21, RisingFog's strength and endurance are now both 'a bit deficient.'

He's now eating 2x Vomp Carrots per day, with 1 Azouph Greens (which he gobbles down in one bite). A funny thing I noticed was since day 19, the trainer had not been saying "I hope we can make this animal into a fine choco" after I fed him. On day 21, though, she said it after I fed him the second carrot- nothing on the first. I wonder if that phrase has anything to do with skill caps or something... It's hard to say, but something that may be a clue was that RisingFog had been on Walk in Town care plan for like 10 days straight, and the messages started appearing again after his first day doing Exercise with Others.
Nibblonian: "You are the last hope of the universe."
Fry: "So I really am important? How I feel when I'm drunk is correct?"
Nibblonian: "Yes, except the Dave Matthews Band doesn't rock."'

I agree I've seen my chocobo's affection raise still from feeding greens while sick, however I believe the benefits are reduced since it took many more feedings then normal to get the affection up. To also add on the really sick days I was able to feed 6 times then the regular 3-4, which suggest that the effects might be reduced.

Her affection after one day of packaging changed to "Seems to want to be with you all the time"

That means it's dropped, correct? I'm gonna give her full attention today, and see what happens.

        Anyway, she's sick.

        Again.

Time for more Tokopekko. I'm tired of her being sick all the damn time -_-

1 Tokko grass and 2 vomp Carrots. She's still substandard in both, and poor in the others. I should have gave her worms, like Chveya, lol..

I'm going to have her do the packages care plan for 2 more days, then i'll switch between exercising alone and exercising in a group till her affection is Parent level again.

Yeah, wants to be around you means it dropped. Parent is the highest level, there is nothing higher then it.

I have never had my chocobo's affection drop from any of the care plans. Day 21 and she still substandard str and a bit deficient end. Poor other stuff. She is a patient chocobo and does well with the package delivering.

Could it be that the drop in affections happens if they drop packages during the task? I wonder because I haven't seen a change and I have had parent status since hatching.

Mine was bored and restless last night so I raced, she whooped that chocobo soundly.

I did notice that when feeding when bored they munch discontentedly on everything even favorite food. First teen "temper tantrum"?

              WHAO!

Ok, Day 22, she's like.... crouched on the ground sick. I don't like the way that looks. I fed her tokopekko wildgrass yesterday, but she did packages today, so did I overwork her? Or what? Cause I've NEVER seen her THIS sick.

Ok, well, good news is that she is now Substandard in Strength but A bit deficient in Endurance, so I'm glad she's advancing so fast. And she is still retaining the Wants To Be With You All The Time affection.

I'm not going to feed her anymore until I get feedback. I have to 4:30 EsT tomorrow, so I also won't take care of her until I hear from you guys and gals.

                Ok, I couldn't resist >_>

I took her on a regular walk, and I met up with Hantileon and Air. And it might just be me, but her legs are seeming quite muscular. >_>

Crouched on the ground sounds like your chocobo got injured, not sick. Just feed it Gausbit Greens and it'll be fine.

I've heard of chocobos becoming so sick they crouch on the ground instead of just hanging their head, but that case was nigh-sadistic neglect. >_> You've been feeding it tokopekko grass every day, right? Maybe the care plans it's been doing are too stressful for it to get better, though I've never had that problem.

If all else fails, a day of rest will probably reset the problem.

I found with my first bird that sometime you need to feed 2 clumps of tokopekko grass in order for it clear by the next day. Try that if its still stick tomorrow.

Ok, Day 23 has been a bit wierd.

She's "A Bit Deficient" in both Strength and Endurance.
I'm back to parent affection (O_o wth?)
And she's still sick. So I'm going to go with the duo Tokopekko, cause this is the third day.
Oh, and despite being deathly sick, she's bored and restless -_-

Anyway, she has a Rest Day planned for tomorrow. Then it's back to her hard work. It seems that Package Delivering is a solid way to raise stats.

So we raced today. We won.
We took a regular walk. I met the Elvaan dude again and we got "Story of an Impatient Chocobo."

I told her the story, then watched over her.

I'm gonna do strenuous activities with her, but then suppliment that with a healthy diet of greens to see what happens. That, and I'm dumb broke, so no carrots for her >_>

Crouched on the ground is sometimes related to an extreme level of sickness. If you give two clumps of Tokopekko, with luck you'll hear the "fever" broke but it's still ill. The next day, you'll have to feed it more Tokopekko to clear out the remaining illness.

Yeah, she's fine today. Day 24, it said "her fever broke"

I had her resting today, so I scolded her to wake her up.

Her stats haven't changed, but I noticed that her stamina hasn't been completely refilling. Hmm...

Anyway, I'll start feeding her at least 1 carrot a day.

I swear, all the money I'm spending... She better be able to transport me to the best farming locations on the planet.

So I'm changing the remainder of her care plan to Carrying Packages. They stop gaining stats at day 30, correct? I'll maximize her as much as I can. She needs to have at least 2 more levels above "A Bit deficient."

                            In my view, if she's not at least faster than rental chocobos, I'm sure I've wasted an entire month ; ;

Chocobo's continue gaining stats for their entire life. Their "Peak" occurs at around day 43 iirc from my first chocobo. If I felt that I had "failed" to successfully build my chocobo, I would probably retire it at this time and get a new one--keeping the old just for riding around and maybe breeding if it was a colored one.

Finally saw the drop in affection on my girl, CrystalMirage. She dropped some packages despite being a patient bird and it dropped the affection level. Fixed that up with some attention and some greens.

Her str and end are both "a bit deficient" so I know I am doing something correct to build her physical stats. Been consistently telling the impatient chocobo to see if she can learn gallop. I do occassionally throw in a day of mental activities to help keep her from being too unbalanced.
