    Re: Breeding a Speedy Chocobo

I decided to spoil my physical-oriented chocobo by giving her celerity salads instead of tokopekko grass or gausebit grass on the rationale that it has a vomp carrot in it and thus might treat the condition and raise her physical stats in one "slot" of food. I didn't have as good a feel at the time for how much hunger each type of food satisfied, so I thought I'd be losing some possible feeding room by giving it the grass, which isn't really true.

One interesting thing is that the salads had an effect on affection. The first time I used the salad, for sickness as a chick, it increased affection. The second time, which was for an injury as an adult, it actually decresed affection. There's a cupid worm in the recipe, so I think this is fair evidence that the salad has composite properties of its ingredients. The second time I fed a salad was probably a "wrong time" to feed a cupid worm.

What would be "right" time? During a weather that they like?

No freakin clue. The chocoboys allude to there being right and wrong times to feed worms but nobody knows what those conditions are afaik. I haven't managed to get my chocobos to prefer any specific kind of weather either.

SolarWind prefers Clear, but doesn't dislike any (he's patient). DuchesseRose didn't like or dislike any, she also did not have any personality to speak of.

Maybe worm feeding time has to do with the direction you face while the moon is in the 7th house and you're holding a Dark/Pluto Staff while chanting Altana's Prayer in Goblin (standing on one foot)...

                  Re: Breeding a Speedy Chocobo

Ok, Day 6. VCS Trainer took my chocobo out for a walk around town, and apparently, she's interested in everything. Her sickness has also fully healed.

I took her for a walk today, and the VCS trainer came out with his chocobo. She became friends with Blood, apparently. So I took her for 3 walks, and after giving her 1 Vomp Carrot out of her feeding cycle, her affection changed to "Wants to be with you all the time." I gave her 1 additionall Az green, and now she's completely full.

Anyway, I left her today on 1/3 health. I didn't even bother watching her a kajillion times, because I have class in 5 mins.

Anyway, update tomorrow. And thank you everyone for the insight!

                    First post on this forum
I read elsewhere that there are certain days when the bird is open to eating things w/o getting sick.
I have only fed worms on the days where the trainer says that the bird should be open to whatever I give him. Since affection is peaked, I gave it gregar worms. Only need one to fill it. Its Perky and in High Spirits.

Otherwise I've been feeding the baby carrot paste and shraug.
When it becomes a teenager, I'll switch to whole carrots.
I've kept it on basic mostly to build up its general stats. Only walk in town twice.
Feeding carrot paste, shraug, watch over and short walks has netted it, very patient, easy to care for, good for carrying packages and parental status.

I'd say that's a good solid start for any kid to enter into teen years. Two days left until the butt wagging stops.

P.S. if someone could make a bird butt waggin avatar I'd appreciate it. I'm gonna miss mine doing that.

I was gonna make a butt-wiggling avatar instead of my current one, but the animation isn't in the current modelviewer lists.

                        Re: Breeding a Speedy Chocobo

I've modified my care plan (just fyi). The "medium" care plans drop SolarWind by a whole affection tick each day which will prevent me from getting Perky status even though I can maintain Parent affection with direct care and 1 Azouph. Therefore, I'm going to give him two days off in seven to do Exercise of either type and should hopefully be able to get Perky on one or the other days to periodically hit him up with a Parasite Worm.

I just started raising a choco too. I am on day 8. She is so cute. I too had a sickness with her, but she has fully recovered. Last night it said she regards me as her parent.
I have been feeding her shaurug greens and veggie paste. I will have to add carrot paste as well.

Why Azouph and not Shraug? Isn't shruag the affection green?

                              Both are affection greens.

                                Question:

By making my chocobo do strenuous work each day and merely feeding it back to recovery, wouldn't it get to the point where it'll hate me?

Aren't those characteristics of the Black/Red chocobos?

And having it dislike me, what will that affect?
