  • Dumb question but I have to ask..

Okay I'm only on day two so it'll be a couple more days before I even get a chick. Now I know you can only raise one choco at a time but can you own more than one adult or do you have to retire ypur Choco before you can even start raising a new chick?

You have to retire your current chocobo to start raising a new one, but as I understand it you can still ride and breed retired chocobos through the use of chococards. I haven't retired either of mine just yet, so I can't say from experience.

When you retire your chocobo you recieve a furniture Plaque for use in the MogHouse. You may still use your old chocobo for calling in the field. I am not sure what else you can do if you trade the card to him.

vegetable paste is more expensive to make compare to just feeding the greens. Azouph/Sharug greens are only 3-4k/stack on my server.

You can see list of all foods and links to their recipe in this page.

I recommend Carrots over Greens for Chocobos on low-stress careplans. Greens are generally used to supplement affection and you will not need to supplement affection when your chocobo is young and not doing anything strenuous. Vomp carrots for physical chocobos and Zegham Carrots for mental chocobos. You cannot make Zegham Carrots into paste, but babies can still eat anything (the pastes are supposedly "better" for babies but I'm not exactly sure how). The feed recipes are all relatively low level, but you'll want to skill up a little at least because you don't want to start blowing up worms and carrots. The two options for retired chocobos are mating (Chococard) and field-calling via whistle.

Of course if you can't afford carrots, your chocobo will be just fine. The Carrot effect is very small compared to the careplan.

To piggyback further off Sabaron, I'd also suggest the carrots. The wiki page describes the pastes as being substitutes for normal food/medicines. Herb supposedly works on illness, carrot raises physical stats, vegetable raises affection, and worm paste is some unknown property ATM. Unless you're neglecting your chick or just letting the careplan do the work for you, you won't need to worry much about affection. Using the "Care for your chocobo" option gives you a number of things like taking a walk, watching over the chocobo, etc. which all raise affection, (except scolding).

So far I've just been using greens cause it's cheap.. (I don't have much cash atm) He seems happy enough.

BTW. How long does the chick stage last before it hits teen? Just curious.

                  Chick stage is 15 days.
                  Teen stage is 10 days.
Adult stage is 14 days before reaching "prime time".

If I remember correctly...Too early in the morning.
