I understand that SE wants to make sure that rentals aren't obsolete, but 25k is a little much. I would think 10k is a better prices, still expencive but not overpriced. 1k a charge isn't bad, but not everyone is lv 75 and in a HNMLS.
EDIT: Perhaps there could be a new item introduced, which allowed calling every hour for 5k. This would let people who spent all that time raising them get a cheap ride, but if hey need to go somewhere and back, they better use a rental the first time.

Don't think the price is that insaine. Quite often the Craig chocobo's hit around 1k a ride. These are for chocobo's out in the field, so it makes sense that to charge a whistle that lets you do similar but no need to head to any specific location. It seems properly priced.

A few days ago I heard from a reliable person that his chocobo had "reached the peak of his abilities". That same person said that yesterday, his chocobo's strength rose from above average to impressive. So maybe the peak of a chocobo's abilities doesn't necessarily mean it can't go past it's limits?

I went ahead and kept raising my choco after getting this message, and a few days later my Chocobo went from Average Strength to Above Average Strength. So this message does not mean choco raising is over!

For those who spent buckets of gil raising their chocobos:

Good going people, spend all your money on something that you dont yet know the ins and outs of! :D Also, buy all that expensive bazaar food that you can get on AH for half the price, or better, grow your own for the price of a wildgrass seed and a crystal ^^.

Hey, man, I rely on those doofuses for my very meager fortune. I grew all my own necessities (azouph greens ftw!) and sold all the excess in my bazaar for money. God bless the lazy. As a primary WHM, it beat farming weakly.

Today I got this message on my second chocobo (Day43) "You have done a magnificent job raising this chocobo. Now is the best time to improve its abilities." Seems like the message was changed to something less ambiguous.

When you get the "Peaked Abilities" message, that doesn't mean your choc's stats won't increase anymore. That means it won't learn anymore abilities. I got that message around day 43 or so, and all his stats were poor ( :< ). Day 62, and str/end is bit deficient now.

Stats will change after the "Peaked Abilities" message.
