Peak Chocobo Abilities?

Ok guys, today Zopago told me:

"You have done an excellent job raising your chocobo. His abilities have reached their peak!"

Does this mean I can't take my chocobo any further? He is currently Average Strength, A Bit Deficient Endurance, and Poor everything else. I wanted to get his strength up a bit more before I retired him. Anyone else get this message? Any guesses how I should proceed next?

Sounds to me like he's as good as he's gonna get.
May not be peak for all of chocobo kind, but peak for that specific chocobo.

Duchesse peaked today on day 46 at Substandard/Poor/Poor/Poor. I retired her and am now working on her egg. Hoping for Black like daddy.

DO NOT attempt to make a chocobo with both physical and mental stats in one run. You will get -nothing- instead. You can breed retired chocobos, so now it's time to do two chocobos to peak, one physical, one mental and see how baby turns out. Might have to "Basic" baby all the way up to keep everything kosher, but I don't think that will work either. Maybe this boost to growth SE's eluded to will turn out well, and I hope they don't over-do it so you can get "Maxed out" chocobos in one breeding cycle. It looks like super chocobos are at least a couple generations off.

Ah, thats cool. That definately means that traits pass to offspring. Now I can focus full strength on Strength and Endurance then on offspring, focus on mental attributes.

maybe you'll get better stats when you start off with your next chocobo bred from your old one.

According to the chocobo breeder boy that's exactly what will happen. My Date Plan, "Sports", is said by the Choco-NPC to cause an increased chance of inheritance of the father's traits and bonus Endurance. The father, in this case, is a Black Chocobo--I don't know his stats; I was just trying to cure lovesickness and it turned out not to matter because Duchesse peaked the very next day.

You can still get a breeding card for a retired chocobo--Chocobos can be bred indefinitely--just trade the registration card you get at retirement to the handler and he'll give you the option to set your whistle to that chocobo or to get a mating card. Of course, the option to get the breeding card might disappear after a while, I'm not sure if they track that. I just know that Duchesse can still breed after retirement.

Ill protest against that, both the choco's I used had standard Str and my chick is still poor in it

I'm thinking it might be more of a "growth factor" than a statistical basis. For instance:

Chocobo inherits a "Good" value in say Strength. Instead of getting a chick with "Good" strength, you get a chick with a predisposition toward gaining strength.

My bird also maxed out growth on day 45 and stats are not great: slightly deficient strength and substandard endurance- poor everything else, no skills, no personality, no weather preference. I mated him with black female and did the Juneo tour honeymoon which is supposed to have more influence to females traits.
I guess you can't stick with one bird and develop all the traits, you need to continue to selectivly breed and improve each time.

I ended on Average strength and endurance. I'm going to breed it and see what happens...

I was browing the Alla forums and have people report stat growth as well as chocos learning new abilities after the "peaked" message (reference here)

So based on this information, I'm not sure if this just means that your choco is capped to an eventual skill level or if it's just a bug althogether.

I tend to take Alla posts with a grain of salt. They are rarely, if ever substantiated by screen shots. Of course, I have no empirical evidence against it--I just know that I messed up Duchesse by trying to get Endurance and Discernment together, and decided to try for an all physical (crossing my fingers for black) chocobo and having one of my mules do a high mental.

Yep, I just checked my log. You're correct. Day 43.
