    i know about the different colors, but i havent seen anyone post about getting the elusive black chocobo yet? well according to my lil bro he has a full grown black choco. he has 2 accounts and several characters, and it seems 1 of his mules has raised a black one in sandoria. hes already had people offer to breed with it. i was wondering if there were any others with black chocos. server midgard btw. i will try and get pics of it whens hes not on.

    Raised in Windrest, egg was the 3ed option, and Sex is female. Also they do seem to be kinda rare.

        Proud owner of a blue Choco with white tipped feathers on the head and tail...personally I think it looks more like a violet color but that could just be my eyes.

            There is a person with a black chocobo he's provided picture of it as well. Though it was injured so the chocobo is crouching down. It's black with white tips.

                From what I can tell, concentrate on feeding strength food and strength care plans and activities. And, don't be afraid to be mean to your chocobo. Everyone who I've known to have a black chocobo had theirs with an "ill tempered" personality, and it didn't like them very much. It doesn't have to hate you entirely, though. So, send your bird through chocobo boarding school and it should come out black. Then again, I could be entirely wrong about this, and it could still be a rarity, even with an ill tempered personality. Mine lost that personality the day that it grew into a young chocobo, so I can't say with any personal experience.

                What I want to know, is how everyone has obtained their violet chocobos? Concentrating on discernment, perhaps?

                  Doubt that it's a strength regiment training, that isn't the charateristic of Derstiers. The strength part is a charateristic of Coursiers, the Dersiers characteristic was high durability. If training really did have something to do with it then it seems the 5 chocobo's would end up as:

                  Coursiers = Strength
                  Derstiers = Duration
                  Palfrey = Receptivity
                  Jennets = Discernment
                  Rounsey = Middle run of other 4

                  Problem is if that is the case chick phase only gives you the options of:

                  Basic Care (Strength, Duration, Discernment, & Receptivity)
                  Listen to Music (Discernment & Receptivity)
                  Walk around Town (Strength & Duration)
                  Walk (Short)
                  Watch over

                  How are you suppose to mold the chocobo to a different color from this? If the other colors do get added later on and 2 new options show up here then it might be possible that it has something to do with it. So far though as I'm seeing it seems to be the chocobo's breed more then anything that causes that.

                    Re: chocobo colors

                    I really doubt the way you raise them has much to do with their colors. I know this is a game, and anything can happen, but if you're born blond and you're parents beat the shit out of you as you grow up your hair isn't going to turn black. Hair color is part of the DNA, and I'm sure it's programmed into each egg or might be effected by the moon phase or where you hatch the egg. But I seriously doubt the way you raise it has anything to do with the color.

                      I agree with Zamphire. Also, your chocobo should not dislike you. If anything affects color its affection. Ill-tempered personalities and low affection are two very different things. Mine is black, ill-tempered, and regards me as its parent.

                        Lol, well I was born with bleach white hair. Depending on my mood and all it will change anywere from a light brown to an almost platinum blonde color. >.>

                        Got a friend who has eyes that do similar too, probably why both of us had actually liked DBZ for a while. Till we finally grew out of it. >.>

                          Re: chocobo colors

                          Well, depends really. I've never kept my chocobo on the same care schedule for more than 3 days and he's well .. he's a little tiny compared to other mithra chocobos and came out yellow. I never really thought about focusing on more than one thing because I wanted him to be good at everything.

                          And it's still unclear if moon phases and days effect chocobo color, personality, etc. My husband and I are actually going to retire out current chocobos and only use them for riding and start over, including days and such into their programs. For example, giving the get to the VCS person on a certain day, feed them on only that certain day and never changing it's care schedule.

                          Ex:
                          Turn my egg in on Lightningday.
                          Check it only on Lightningday.
                          Feed/play with it only on Lightningday and keep it's care schedule on listening to music.
                          Alternately my husband would do his all on Darksday and have his walk around town.

                          Maybe actually focusing on attributes does help it, then again as it's been said before it could be entirely random. I figure it won't hurt me to give it a shot, and if all else fails I'm a White Mage and I can teleport to Vahzl and Outpost Warp.

                            Well, I hadn't checked my baby choco since Saturday, at 13 days old. I logged on and now he's skeleton colored.

                            I know: I'm an ass.
