  • Scolding Chocobos?

I'm trying to decide if I should scold my chocobo. Here's my situation: ever since my chocobo reached adolescence two days ago, has been bored and irritated, and has not been following my care plan. The trainer suggested that I try competing with other chocos, and I have. MomoDance (my choco) is still in a bad mood. I've taken him on two short walks, two long walks, competed- he won, yay!- and told a story. My plan was set to Listen to Music the first day, and Rest the next (after the competition I figured he'd need a day off). Both of those days the Basic Care plan was implemented instead of the ones I set. I wonder if my choco needs scolding in order to get him back in shape? Has anyone used the scold command yet, and if so, what happens?

If hes not following your care plan because he is miss behaving then you oviously need to scold him, but just dont over do it.

I agree. Give it a try. Just once, though.

Mine was also irritated on his first day as a teen, sounds normal.
I did what you did, compete, long walk, but I also made sure he was full.
took 3 carrots. Check after feeding still showed irritated but was ok at next visit.
I'm not sure what scolding is for, I assume you need to correct bad behaviour. Being irritated is not bad behavior, it's a reaction to the environment and situation the bird is in. I would make sure all needs are fulfilled to remove irritation.
Is your bird a female? Irritation is a female trait with no justifiable explanation!

I think what you're experiencing is from the time-rollover, not from your chocobo acting naughty.

This has happened to me, and here are my findings:

When the time-clock hits the 24-hour mark (When you originally traded the egg), whatever is in the Plan 0 slot gets set as the "Current Plan." All the other care plans get moved up a notch, until they are "Plan 0" , so on and so forth

As far as I can tell, you cannot change the 'Current Plan' once it is set. This really annoys me by the way. Why can't I change it?

So, if you're only planning one or two days at a time (Plan 0-1), the instant the rollover happens which uses your last care-plan, it will set the next plan, which defaults to basic care. I've wasted a few training sessions due to my laziness in setting a care plan.

If you do not want this to happen, be sure to set care plans in advance, so that even if you're not there to give it a care-plan before rollover, it will still be set automatically, as per your wishes.

I understand what you are referring to PTT, but I don't think that's the case. The Listen to Music plan that he skipped was actually the last day of a 4-day plan, and it was on day 3 of that plan that I made my changes to schedule 1.

Another thing I noticed was that yesterday (day 21) my choco was starving, even though I had fed him to full on the previous day.

I hope that this will resolve itself after I check on him today, but if not, I will scold him once. I'm going to need to play around with his schedule until I find something that he likes. His personality is "enigmatic, making it difficult to tell what he is thinking." >< I was hoping for a choco with emphasis on intelligence, but I have no idea what he is suited for.

After the change to adolescence, new care packages become available.
Try setting up new care plans.

As for scolding, on Day 24 (last night) the choco guy told me specifically that my choco was misbehaving and basically being emo. It was not until that day that I scolded him. I assume that's what it's for, you'll know it when you the message (I forget what it is now).

If your chocobo's health bar which you use to do the Care for your Chocobo options like "Watch Over", "Tell Story" and "Go for Walk", was empty the same day you fed him to full, then the next day when you check him again, he will be starving again. How much food you feed it and how much energy he has determines how hungry and how much energy he will have the next day. So if he has no energy and is only half full when the next day rolls over, he will be starving and have half energy the next day.

                  Re: Scolding Chocobos?

Whew, thanks for the quick replies. I didn't know that the Trainer would tell you when scolding was needed! If the Trainer suggests scolding, then I will do it, not otherwise. That makes sense about energy/hunger as well.

I am going to try new care plans, I've got both Play with Children and Exercise Alone set up for the next couple days.

Mine was irritated too. I had him compete twice and he was fine at the next daily update.

Haggai, I have something to tell you about your chocobo!

Today, she didn't want to do your care plan. Instead, she opted to listen to stupid music while painting her feathers black. She was talking about cutting her wrists. (what wrists?) I suggest that you bitch slap the emo out of her, as we already have too much "diet goth" in this world.

Ditto. I think just having him race or compete with the 3 trainers-with-the-black-chocobo will cure that right up. Maybe exercising in a group or playing with others would help too, but the chocobo hasn't failed to recover with the "Compete Against Others" option yet.
