White handkerchief for chocobo?

So I got a white handkerchief key item for my chocobo.

Trainer says its making a fuss at night...says hang onto the handkerchief for a while then give it to the chocobo? I guess just carry it around for a few days.

Also, the guy says its in excellent condition, but its kindof bouncing up and down and when i feed it he says "I hope it gets better soon"?

Anybody else getting this sort of thing?

You don't have to zone. I had the time cross-over while I was feeding the chocobo and he took the hanky back.

It seems there's an option to turn the White Handkerchief into a Dirty Handkerchief by taking rental chocobo rides. The Dirty one has the added smell of chocobos on it.

I wonder what the difference is. More receptivity (to other chocobos) for the Dirty Handkerchief maybe?

Sounds like they put a lot of work in this. The hankerchief sounds like a scent deal, likely certain things you do leave a scent on it. Generally in RL this trick is done so that the animal to identify their parents, it's also a comfort level for some animals when they smell certain scents it helps them sleep more comfortably.

My guess SE is using that same logic here.

If that true I wonder how many "combos" there are, maybe one when your in a party to get the smell of others? If Jockeys are in chocobo racing I can see this kinda having a advantage.

I wonder what they end up influencing. Actually, my main wonder is what exactly affects color, or color of their offspring. If these handkerchiefs (handkerchieves?) and every other little thing end up influencing the color of the choco's offspring, I bet you could eventually get magical residue (multiple buffs while holding handkerchief? or spells cast?) on it to hedge your outcome towards a green choco.

I'm talking from my ass of course.

Someone try putting the handkerchief in your mog house. It might get your sent from rubbing together with all your other stuff.

NO, don't do that. It'll get moogle stink all over it. That won't seem like a big deal now, but when you blow your choco whistle and expect a ride, you'll be pissed when all you end up doing is summoning ChocoMog.

Haha, nice. It's worth a try though, I mean your moogle doesn't actually touch your stuff, he just moves your furniture with your stuff in it I believe.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. I've noticed that my subligar in particular often have moogle paw prints all over them.

For real though, it wouldn't hurt to try it out amongst other things. If riding other chocos makes it 'dirty' and someone mentioned maybe getting multiple peoples' smells on it, I bet you could kill multiple enemies and make it 'bloody', maybe influencing them towards strength and militarism. Who knows?

Im very glad everyone got this, i was freaking out that i screwed over my chocobo, im going to do a few rides on a chocobo to make it more chocobo friendly, im probably going to make my first one a digger if it somehow dosent turn green.
