  • Chocobo Stories

    Hi-o all,

I know we are all watching our eggs with high hopes (hatch already!), and I have a question for anyone who may be in the know.

At http://ffxi.somepage.com/news/283#New_Choco_Raising we are given a list of key item stories, and since SE lists stories as one of the activities that will strengthen affection as well as give attribute bonus' (points? who really knows yet). Has anyone been able to get these, and if so how did you do it?

    thanks, Jet

    Story of an Impatient Chocobo

A story Hantileon tells the chocobos under his care.

    Story of a Curious Chocobo

A story Brutus tells the chocobos under his care.

    Story of a Worrysome Chocobo

A story Zopago tells the chocobos under his care.

    Story of a Youthful Chocobo

A story Pulonono tells the chocobos under her care.

    Story of a Happy Chocobo

A story Bashraf tells the chocobos under his care.

    Re: Chocobo Stories

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that each of these trainers will after some condition has been met, give you a quest or simply tell you the story and then you may use it at your leisure. I don't think anyone has gotten one yet, or we'dve heard about it. People love to shout when they get something no one else has. ^^

      Re: Chocobo Stories

I managed to snag "Worrysome" recently. I got it in Bastok, (strangely enough where Zopago runs the stables). You get the stories by taking your chick for a walk. The very first walk my chick and I went on, she made friends with Zopago's chocobo. After a few more walks, Zopago congratulated me for training it so well. Shortly thereafter, he gave me the story key item on another walk.

I recieved the "Story of a youthful chocobo" key item tonight. I don't have the option to tell my baby Azure the story though ; ; Has anyone figured out what these stories are for yet?

I got "Worrisome" after several walks.
My chick has also been hanging around with some ne'er-do-well named "Blood". I don't know if that's someone else's actual chocobo or if it's just some generic one put in for flavor.

My chocobo met Spring, as did all the other males in my ls, whereas the females met Air. I think each of the trainers has two chocobos and which one you meet depends on what stable you use and your chocobo's gender.

"Blood" is the name of Zopago's chocobo. Zopago, the galka NPC in Bastok.

Well, as we have all found out..

Telling a story is an Adolescent Chocobo option available under the Care option. And if you were unaware chocos hit adolescence @ 19 days.

                      Re: Chocobo Stories

Got impatient story as a bastok raised choco. I got it from the second walk option after a few cs just like the short walk.

worrysome i got from short walks

happy choco i got from racing my chocobo a number of times and wining.

i tell my choco stories regularly yes he still has not learned a thing. He just seems interested. Ive also tried telling them stories with different afflictions. Currently my choco has been quite restless. So i tell the story of the impatient choco .. still no luck.

                        Re: Chocobo Stories

I got Impatient after 2 Short walks while my chocobo was still a chick, couldnt tell him the story until he was older though.

And i got Happy after the 3rd time he raced the other chocobo, the order was,

                        1st race i won
                        2nd race i lost
3rd race i won, then the blonde dude blames Bashraf for losing because he keeps telling stupid stories to the chocobo, Bashraf aproaches me and teaches me the story

                          Re: Chocobo Stories

If this helps anyone, when I took mine out for a walk (regular) a number of times, I ran into Zopago, the Galka trainer with the chocobo "Blood."

I'm from San d'Oria by the way, and the (regular) walk takes me to La'theine Plateau.

So, what I'm guessing is, if I run into Zopago enough times (2 so far for me), I'll learn his story. When the chocobo becomes a full-adult, I'm guessing there's going to be a Long-Distance walk/run care option, where you meet the furthest-away trainer, in my case, probably Pulunono and "Spring" , or perhaps Brutus?

Anyones chocobo learn an ability from telling it a story yet? If so, how often did you tell him the story? Did you focus your care plan on mental attributes (i.e. listening to music, playing with children, etc)?

                              Re: Chocobo Stories

Seeing how slow the stats skill up, I've since abandoned trying to raise my chocobo to be balanced, and have focused on Strength+Endurance mainly.

I'm sure to tell her the Story of an Impatient Chocobo at least once or twice daily, and she still hasn't gotten anything from it.

I'm guessing having mental stats higher will ease the burden of learning. That, and perhaps I need to wait for her to become fully-adult?
