If you're trying to get to 60 in a month, then yes, it will be quite expensive. Probably in the 10s of millions of gil if not 100s.
Not sure why anyone has a need to get bonecrafting to 60 in such a short time, but if you're in that situation, then clearly you're in the wrong craft to begin with. I hear cooking is the only craft that has marginal expenses getting to 60. The rest of the field requires time as the agent to reduce the cost of the craft.

Re: Bonecraft
When I crafted from 1-60 with Bonecraft, I didnt care much about costs and I ended up buying everything. Now granted, Midgardsormr's economy is screwed beyond belief... but It took me about a total of a mil to buy every material needed (including crystals). I didnt have to work for a few days so I hit 60 within a matter of about 3 days.

But, back pre-inflation days of Middie, IIRC, you should've spent at least 3 million gil leveling from 1 to 60 buying everything from the AH, including crystals. I have a friend who's currently on Middie who can vouch for me on that.

Re: Bonecraft
Well up until a few weeks ago, Bonechip stacks were 3k - and I used Bonechips like phookin crazy. But recently they shot up to 10k a stack. With the inflation its been insane.

Inflation in boneworking right now seems to be driven by several nutheads who think they can powerlevel their craft. Wait till they hit the 60-80s when they have to get demon horns and coral fragments. Let's see how long their purchased gil lasts ... orz.
Demon Horn is at around 150 to 200K EACH. Coral fragments are hovering around 15 to 20K EACH.

Re: Bonecraft
Hey guys,
I'm a migrant from alla...
I'm not too sure how Cerberus ranks in economic status, but I hear its pretty bad.
Anyways, I sold my hauby at the beginning of the year for a hefty 13.5 mil... And went on a crafting craze...
I skilled bone and WW together. Most items were purchased unless they were easily obtainable. I.e. Scorp drops. Bone to 63 and WW to 49 cost me about 2.5 million...
Keep in mind I didn't simply power craft straight through using a guide... If I had, it probably would have been far more expensive. So be smart about it and you can do it for a reasonable amount.
And just to complete the story... I also skilled alchemy to 51 and leather to 62... The total cost to get these craft levels starting at 0 in 4 months was 3.5 million...
I could have done it slower for less gil and faster for more gil. But there's a rough estimate for ya.MUJURU of ClanDestine

Re: Bonecraft
leather from 0-60 had been pretty profitable for me. But the thing was, I farmed almost all skin myself and train my skill making leather as much as possible. Even after I hit the cap, I made more leather for sell this time.
The only real painful part was when I need to skill on raptor skins.... It didn't last that long thankfully, but was painful nonetheless.
As soon as I hit 51 I farmed tigers around the glacier for skins. Terrible, terrible break rate. But pretty cheap. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Re: Bonecraft
Agreed. Leathers is a solid proposition. The only leather I actually farmed were ram leather since it was so easy to obtain.
I purchased all other skins at a breakeven or close to breakeven price... Some leathers resulted in profit even if skins were bought. Prices drop frequently, if you camp the AH and know the prices you're looking for, buying the skins can be break even or even profit...
You don't have to farm to make it profitable... But it does require some patience.
The more crafts I've undertaken, the more I've come to believe that patience is a crafters best friend...
I'm proud to say I don't farm anymore... And still earn more gil in less time than those who do...
As you skill up, you learn the breakeven prices of raw materials... And when prices drop below that, you know you can turn a profit... This is the one skill that farming crafters never learn...
I.e. If sheep skins sell for 1k each...and a stack of leather sells for 40k... You're looking at a 20k+ profit for doing 12 synths...
Sure you can farm an hour to get your own skins to turn a 40k profit... But I can synth 2 stacks in 15 minutes and earn 40k+.... Sometimes it doesn't pay to farm your material... The only thing that matters is profit margin.
Now if buying skins ends in a loss... Then yes, by all means farm unless you're willing to bite the bullet.^^MUJURU of ClanDestine
