RMT have been chiefly responsible for damaging the economy in several ways:
1. They will frequently reduce markets to paper-thin profit margins because they craft 24/7. The paper thin margin allows them to maintain a steady income (esp multiplied by multiple crafters) but it makes the market sour for non-RMT.
2. They have large gil banks and on items that are rare enough to monopolize, they can buy/resell and mark priced up through the roof (remember what they used to do to things like Sushi).
I think that you are either (a) delusional or (b) interested in reducing the price of the gil that your buying by helping RMT crafters...
Yeah, and I remember when there were RMTs, things were actually worth farming and worth crafting.
Now everything's value has gone to crap, and there isnt a damn thing to make a gil on!
Sure you can NPC things, but wouldnt you rather sell it for some good gil instead of selling it back to the shop for crap gil?
I remember when farmed items were at least worth farming. There isnt anything worth farming unless it raised your damn skill up.
In turn, it screws the low level crafter when hes crafting his hard earned farmed crap for something that isnt worth shit.
WTF would be the bloody point in making, say a Wax Sword and sell it for a whole 500 gil when it used to go for like 2-3k. (Using as example)
Its not my fauilt that people are too bloody lazy and have to whine and complain to GMs that they cant afford anything since they dont have the common sense to learn how to utilize the AH to their advantage (which I had learned how to do, btw), at least until they banned them all and screwed the rest of us on good gil earning.
Honestly, I vote that the RMTs are reinstated but only the ones that dont use bots and shit like that.
Wilco on Unicorn is a bot teleporter, these are the bots that deserve to be banned.
Buying and selling gil for real money should be allowed as long as you use common sense and not use hacks and bots.
Why do you think that WoW is ten times more popular than FFXI?
Because they understand the concept behind RMTs.
RMTs are not evil, SE is just too stupid to understand the concept.
Wouldnt you rather have the game pay for itself instead of it coming out of your own pocket?
If that was the case, why even have FFXI be an online game?
When I started FFXI, I had full intentions in becoming an RMT without use of any hacks or bots, but the stupid ass SE ruined that for most of us honest players who would rather play this game for a living than bust our ass at a real job.
Yeah, and I remember when there were RMTs, things were actually worth farming and worth crafting.

Correlation != Causation.
It's harder and harder to make profit through crafting because the durables market is so saturated. Any durable that players find worth using enters the market and never leaves. So as time goes on, more and more of them enter the market, diluting their value. This would have happened regardless of whether SE had banned RMTs or not.
When I started FFXI, I had full intentions in becoming an RMT without use of any hacks or bots, but the stupid ass SE ruined that for most of us honest players who would rather play this game for a living than bust our ass at a real job.
Oh, so now we find out the real cause for all of your bitterness. Yeah, whatever. We have ZERO sympathy for you.

Oh I see, so you're a gilseller.......
and you want to make money off selling... Wax Swords? Seriously? You shouldn't expect to be able to make money off of something 60% of the server can rapidly and cheaply manufacture....
As I said before, High-end crafting is still profitable. You shouldn't expect to profit on anything below 60--this doesn't mean that you can't find profitable synths below 60, it just means that they are either difficult to make, new or rare (and therefore in low supply), or consumable. Consumable goods should not be expected to have a high profit margin. Consumable goods are analogous to groceries in real life--How many grocers do you know that own mansions?
Your "I wish I could subsist on food stamps and gilselling" mentality is what's wrong with our economy now.... If you're not in the US, then you're doing the same thing to a different economy, and LH is correct, no sympathy....
Yeah, and I remember when there were RMTs, things were actually worth farming and worth crafting.
And I remember when you didn't post on this website. It was awesome.
Now everything's value has gone to crap, and there isnt a damn thing to make a gil on!
Your retarded for saying this. If a everythings value is reduced 60%. Everything is everything. and your retarded.
Sure you can NPC things, but wouldnt you rather sell it for some good gil instead of selling it back to the shop for crap gil?
Why would you want to do this when everythings value has gone to crap and there isn't a damn thing to make gil on?
I remember when farmed items were at least worth farming. There isnt anything worth farming unless it raised your damn skill up.
I remember when farmed items were at THE VERY LEAST worth farming. It was like a split second ago, when I typed this sentence.
In turn, it screws the low level crafter when hes crafting his hard earned farmed crap for something that isnt worth shit.
WTF would be the bloody point in making, say a Wax Sword and sell it for a whole 500 gil when it used to go for like 2-3k. (Using as example)
Your example = fail.

Thank you for informing me that you "learned how to utilize the AH to your advantage, unlike stoopid neoobs!" If 100 gil buys you a piece of sushi today, but 3 years ago, 1000 gil bought that same piece of sushi, how do you not see the conversion ratio??? And once again you've brought up a valid point. People often do whine and complain to GM's about not being able to afford stuff. ...wait....no.
Honestly, I vote that the RMTs are reinstated but only the ones that dont use bots and shit like that.
Honestly, I vote that you punch yourself until smart, and then go play cooking momma cook off. Then RMT all the food you make.

Why do you think that WoW is ten times more popular than FFXI?
Because people like yourself, get to hang out with people like yourself.
Because they understand the concept behind RMTs.
WOW, that's exactly what I was gonna say...and then I decided my time would be better served by laying a piece of sand paper on this table, and then rubbing my forhead against it...hard.
RMTs are not evil, SE is just too stupid to understand the concept.
Someone call barack Obama, cause i'm pretty sure this economic genius has just solved the financial crisis! Wait a second. This IS Barack Obama isn't it????? Mr. President!??!?!???? please Mr. President, can you make the moneys i paid my houses with worth morez so i cans be happy!?
Wouldnt you rather have the game pay for itself instead of it coming out of your own pocket?
I would rather be able to shit my own gasoline to power my truck. Litterly shit processed gasoline out of my rectum, to fuel my vehicle. I would rather have this than a free video game.
If that was the case, why even have FFXI be an online game?
LORASE, PLEASE INSERT YOUR FACE PALM AVATAR INTO THIS SPOILER....THANK YOU.
When I started FFXI, I had full intentions in becoming an RMT without use of any hacks or bots, but the stupid ass SE ruined that for most of us honest players who would rather play this game for a living than bust our ass at a real job.
I'm pretty sure everyone wishes they could get paid to do nuthing but play a video game! Wouldn't that be a grandtasticful thing! Also, last night, I had every intention of walking into a bar, and sexing some hot women, but then Stupid society came along, and made it so you had to actually talk to the women, before the sexing...stupid society...
You can't have been serious when you posted on here. I mean...what kind of delusional fucking fool are you? You thought you'd play this video game, sell a bunch of fake shit *which is clearly against the fucking rules of the video game* and that would be your "JOB"? Why don't you go sell drugs or something. or better yet. Do alot of them....in as many combinations as possible...in a very short time.
Thank you for the offer but I have to pass!!!!
Awesome, maybe you'll pass on ever coming back to this website also.

Well you know I thought that this thread was going to be useful but I was sadly mistaken...Shepard thank you for dropping this kid. I have no issues with rmt really but stupid people I do, stupid crooks that defend something that is wrong I hate the most.

You're born, you take crap. You get out in the world, you take more crap. You climb a little higher, you take less crap. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what crap even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake son
Get a job, there are many easy ones that will even hire people like you, I don't think they are allowed to turn away citizen that ride the short bus, i mean have special needs.
I just wish I was at the time when gilsellers were ok in the game.
Now, its just not worth it anymore.
I am an old EQ player that was basically forced into playing FFXI after I lost my desktop but as soon as I get my desktop again, Ill prolly just sell my account and play that game as gameplay makes FFXI a kiddie online game.
If you all dont like it, I would be happy to hand you all a box of tissues giftwrapped for you to cry on! =/
I just wish I was at the time when gilsellers were ok in the game.
Read the ToS, they never were ok in the game. The only players that accepted them were in fact the ones who bought gil. Anyone with half a brain in regards to economics could have told you that gil sellers were bad.
This'll be one of the few times were I say don't let the door hit you on the way out.
You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.
I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.
Ill prolly just sell my account and play that game as gameplay makes FFXI a kiddie online game.
My work is done. You may not be a gilseller but selling accounts isn't too much better lawls.

Anyone with half a brain can make a profit in the current FFXI economy. I will admit, during the peak of the RMT activity, it was stupidly easy to make gil. Things were also stupidly expensive. Sure, some of the get rich quick stuff has gone away, but with the deflation of everything I have not found it outrageously harder to afford the things I need. The game has aged - there are a lot more high level crafters than there used to be. That means profitable synths are harder to find. Deal with it, and please leave our board.
