breaking rods post patch?

before the patch it was possible to break rods even as a low level fisherman, so i could skill up on fixing lu-shangs even though it was at a slow rate.

post patch i haven't been able to break my rod once yet despite reeling in a bunch of titanicuses.

Pulling in at full fish stamina just breaks line.

Any speculations? You have to be able to pull in a titan for a chance at breaking? :\

Ive managed to break my rod, I dont't how but it did I can't seem to find anyone to fix it.

i managed to break my line for the first time ever fishing after this update and the shops shut :@

I'm at the point where i need a broken mithran fishing rod to start the opo-opo crown quest, for the last few days i was unable to find one at AH ,they seem to be very rare since the fishing update.

Since it's the only solution i can find to get one

My question is how to break that rod?

Where should i fish?
What bait should i use?

Also at what message should i reel to make the rod break

I also noticed that reeling a figh at full health will only break the line not the rod.

My current fishing skill is 6

not sure, but i think bhefiel marlins break mithrans. (?) Use sliced bluetails.

if not, titanicus will. Use meatballs.

got to be at least able to reel in the fish for a chance at breaking... or close to reeling it in (say 0-5% left)
really hard to do if you have lvl 6 fishing.
