New bots are out all ready for the new fishing system.
    source: http://www.uff-forums.com/renaissanc...opic.php?t=191

The new system has now made fishbotting more profitable than it ever has been.

I did find it especially funny and ironic that people all over the place are cheering that the new system is "unbottable" and a new bot rolls out 8 hours after the update. So yeah, nice job SE huh?

One thing that puzzles me with the new fishing system:

Your fishing instinct rises as you gain level. At fishing level 58, my fishing instinct is still useless. Now, if it only becomes accurate at fishing 100, then what is the point alltogether of having a fishing instinct? rofl once you're 100 in skill, you do not need an instinct, other than giving you a general idea of whether or not you have a legendary on the hook

WoW fishing is mind numbingly boring and there's no reason to do it. can't make money from it, can't get items like you used to from it

God I wish I found this thing earlier, I threw out a line as usual and alofa sudden I'd start fighting it, it would say I have something and like the old days I pushed (PS2) x and snap! there goes 200 gill worth of spinner, so eventually I started spinning the control stick, thinking that worked pretty well, until it got to be impossible! So eventually I got pissed and pushed it one way and finally figured out the counter-stick movement, and now, I'm freaking rich! I figured out that for every 12 lugworm I buy I get 200 gill bonus at the end of sales of my fish!! So now I'm steadily moving up the chain, the gil increasing asd I go, and I found out that on ships, such as the one that sales from Selbina, holds quite a bit of exp, esp for my low 17 char. So all in all this is definately an IMPROVEMENT!

Well, there's two sides of the coin, proverbially speaking.

            Before Patch:

Fishermen, both botters and "legit" players were able to get a handsome amount of money for their catch. Higher level players could also do that quest in Selbina and turn in their catches in hopes of reaping a nice reward (e.g., Ancient Sword which goes for a lot on my server)

Most people that cook, however, were forced to take up fishing. Selling to NPCs made it almost impossible to see all but the highest-yielding profit makers on AH (e.g. nebimonite, moat carp, black soles, etc.) Most fishes, before the update, would just not even be listed (blank history list in all 3 starting cities and jeuno)

Botting was considered evil, because it added an influx of new gil which were created outside of the "economy" and thus caused inflation (more gils in the economy means less that money can buy and commodities also became scarcer due to an increase in the number of crafters - read: Jimmy Carter's term in the late 70s)

            After Patch:

Temporarily, botting was limited or removed entirely. Cooking now became a viable option as more seafood became available on the AH. However, fishermen see their overall catchrate plummet and thus their income has been severely reduced. This forces them to focus on certain kinds of catches that would bring in the most profit causing certain areas to be massively overcrowded.

This also caused botters and gil sellers to focus a lot of their energy and resources to "beat the system"

In order to make up for the reduced catch, seafood item on AH have spiraled ever higher and seemingly out of control. Prices for sushi also rose, due to the fact that only a handful of crafters attempted to complete the GP required to gain the Key Item. Prices of food rise and make other players suffer. Some of these players are now driven to buy gils from gil sellers. This only proliferates gil buying/selling.

Now, I see more and more people cooking. Items for the sushi become rarer and rarer. I see people camp for wasabi in Tenshodo and then put it up to the AH for ridiculous amounts.

Then, prices started to fall again. Seafood items are going down. I hear long time fishermen complain and bitch and whine to me. All of a sudden, fishing isn't a lucrative past time anymore. Reason? Botters have appeared again, flooding the market to feed the demand. Competing botters undercut each other and "legit fishermen" and the savings is passed on to the people that make the sushi. Sushi is abundant and now (on Hades) I've seen prices drop about 25% or so in the past week alone.

So ... you tell me, did this patch and change to fishing make the economy any better or worse and did it improve the experience for "legit" fishermen? I'm not sure ... it's also how it is on your server and who you talk to ...

im still waiting for all the A**HOLES who told me not in a million lifetimes would the new fishing system be hacked.. an yet there nowhere to be found.. but the hacks are.

i think what this new patch did was stop the new gil from flodding into the system. no longer do players sell squid to the npcs. they take it to the a.h. an the crafters feel the brunt.
