NSEW dirrection faced when synthing??

Someone told me that there's certain dirrection your supposed to face while synthing, not really supposed to, but it helps a lot or something.

NW - fire crystal
N - Dark
NE - Light
E - Ice
W - Water
SW - Lightning
S - Earth
SE - Wind

anyone else hear of this??

South would be Earth, at least if you follow the elements on the starchart.

from my experience i think it works, i was doing smithing from 20-23 using iron ingots and making sheets with a fire crystal, i failed twice out of like 24 synths, and 90% of the synths i got .1-.3 skill ups :D
