Question about boosting skill

I have meant to post this for quite a while. For stuff like fishing and crafting if I wear the +1 gear, how does that effect me?

Example
If I am fishing for something that caps at 7, and currently have 3 skill and +4 gear, will I get skill ups from that fish still?

Same with crafting, if I am crafting an item that caps at 40 and have 38 skill and +3 gear, will I still get skill ups?

Yes, anything you do to boost your skill is a bonus, not a drawback. You will still get skillups based on your actual skill level, but the boosts make it easier to get the skillpus.
