Mining - I don't understand.

Based on observation:

With the exception of Ifrit's which can net you huge chunks of money with some luck.

Every other place, the chances of getting high value ores seem so abyssmal that it's not worth the time.

And that's without having to deal with the other miners competing with you for mining points - usually the number of miners is that you can't sit and camp a few spots.

Camping mining spots is pointless. You won't make much money that way. The trick is to know where all the mining points are, and finding the most efficient way to run and check all of them.

That being said, the number of miners in any given zone has an impact on how much you're likely to make:

Minimum: This is the number of players needed to effectively cover all the mining point spawns in a reasonable amount of time. Less than this number will cause you to accumulate mining points in places you aren't able to check easily, thus making it harder to mine efficiently.

Maximum: This is the number of players who can mine in each location comfortably without negatively impacting income.

I don't know much about Ifrit's Cauldron. The mining points are so spread out that a really well-synchronized group of 3-4 miners could probably cover them effectively, but the zone is so dangerous that one mistake can wreck the rhythm if anyone dies.

These numbers are if all the miners there KNOW what they're doing, where they're going, and don't die. However, I have successfully mined in Ifrit's with more than 15 miners... they were all just really stupid and searched in all the wrong spots.
