  • Odd fishing question

    Hi all,

I've basically only been fishing so I can moat carp fish for money. I'm not planning on becoming a master fisherman or anything...

Basically Moat Carp skill cap at something like 11, right? and Gold Carp skill cap at something in the low 30's right? I've noticed in my too many hours of fishing in Windurst that after I hit level 11, I'd be pretty consistent in my catching of moat carp, and when I lost a catch, usually I'd get a skillup (meaning I probably snagged a Gold Carp). Things were going fine until I skilled up to about 21 doing this. At this point I noticed that a very high percentage of my bites were going lost, and I was still getting skillups, although not so frequently. I'm now 25 just from MC fishing and my Gold Carp catch rate is now slowly increasing.

My question is, does your fishing skill dictate what kind of fish catches on the hook, aside from dictating whether or not you pull it up? Like once I was in my 20's was I hooking more Gold Carp than MC, therefore I'd start missing more bites (because in the low 20's my skill sucks for actually reeling in the Golds?)

    Thanks ^^

Gold Carp cap out at level 56. And yes, the higher your skill, the more likely a higher level fish will bite your hook.

I read a post recently from a level 100 fisherman who was frustrated because the fish of the day for guild points was crayfish (level 7). She tried fishing in Windurst with little worms and was getting all moat carp and gold carp - no crayfish. :p
