  • Cooking 30-35ish?

I have read the guide posted up at the top and its a great guide. I am just looking for alternatives to meatballs >_< They aren't selling well in the AH and they don't sell well to NPC. I don't mind a bit of a loss if I can sell it back to an NPC for a decent amount.

Anyone know any good things to cook that sell well in the AH or for a decent amount to an NPC.

I have about 25,000 gil to spend. Although I would like to keep as much as possible and even add to it (I've got to look forward to Phalanx and Dispel >_<)

Oh, by the way Cooking is level 29.4

It took me 3 weeks to sell all the sardine balls and meet balls that i leveled off of. And that was using 5 different characters, but they did all sell eventually and i actually made a profit.

At lv30, if you really wanted, you could level on mithkabobs which is a lv36 synth, but it is also an expensive synth, so while you wouldn't have problems selling them, be prepared to take a loss when you get a failure.

        Found this:

        LV. 29-32 Black Bread

Once again you're going to hit a small loss, but the ingredients are extremely cheap and easy to obtain. Rye flour is by far the least expensive flour you can get anywhere, and the other two ingredients are also equally as cheap. The only thing that may be an expense are the fire crystals...but even those aren't too bad. Stick with this until about 32 (again, tier test to level beyond 30), then we get back into the profit items.

        LV. 32-39 Pet Food Delta

The ingredients are slightly more expensive than the Gamma but you get the same result: small profit back. This will take you all the way to the big four oh, and then we begin on the long road down hell. Hope you saved up those sticks of butter

Right, so credit goes to uhhh..

Someone (WILL EDIT LATER) it was on allakhazam.com

Im in school so i don't have time right now (Home room, bell ringing, science

        EDIT:
Ok, credit goes to QHectic of allakhazam... here is the link to the full guide:

The suggestions I put up will cost you gil, but probably not that much.

The person's suggestion for Black Bread was spot on. All the ingredients are easy to get. I would suggest to take this all the way up to it's max of 34. For the last two skill points you may wish to visit sandoria because they're open all the time with all the ingredients at probably the lowest cost.

After that I did fish broth because I had 7+ stacks of bastore sardines stored away. As for a cost comparison, a stack of sardines probably go for around 600 gil at the AH. That's 50 gil each sardine, making the combine 200 gil per combine not including the water crystal. The vendors will buy back each jug at 50 gil. so you have a net loss of 100 gil per combine. I only did this up to skill 36 or so. I did not want to do the pet food because it required land crab meat. Also I now play a BST so jugs are useful for me to hold onto.

Something I find that works well with levelling Cooking (and indeed any other craft), is NOT to try to power your way through the levels, but to spend some time synthing profit-earning stuff after becoming adept at it, to minimise your losses when trying higher level stuff.

For example, you're at 29.4 now. That's a good level because you can do some of the profitable synths! Insect Paste sells extremely well near New and Full Moons, and does very decently even when the Moon is not favourable for fishers. Pineapple Juice is tricky to sell, but craft it at Kazham (where Pineapples are usually low-cost), and sell it through the AH (which is also linked to Windurst's, and we know how many people do BCNM Giddeus and need the juice). Takes more time than Insect Paste, but judging by your 23 WHM, you're going to be levelling at Kazham soon. Make full use of your time there, if you know what I mean. ^_- Also, Pet Food Gamma is good to synth on HQ-favourable days for HQ synths of Gamma = more produced = sell more to NPCs = more gil. Or you could synth it whenever you're in the country that holds Aragoneu, or when you're roaming Jeuno during your LFP time (though as WHM this isn't going to be much).

As for general levelling your cooking, Rablek has exactly what I had in mind for you. Black Bread's not an exciting synth, but Delta's going to earn you a bit of cash along the way .

            Good luck.

Im almost trough leveling in kazham (28).. thats what I did... I bought water crystals from AH (Really cheap, 500 gil or so) then I buy some pineapple from the npc. The npc is on the dock to the left right after u get of the kazham airship. Just a hint you dont need to pay the 200 to go see the npc. Just go along the dock next to it... you can talk to the npc from there. Pineapple juice sells for about double the synthing price. I made a nice amount of gil on them... I used a lot of them for leveling though. It costs 150ish (depending on fame) per synth, but it sells for 300, not bad! Anyways, good luck
