Smithing 73+?

I've recently reached lvl 73 smithing using very silmilar means to the above post, but im wondering where to from here? darksteel gear is by no means worth making and I have yet to find a recipe in which I dont lose 2k or more in materials per synth selling at AH. I've also tried synthing random items to sell to npc (which I lost alot of gil) I really cant find anything to put me anywhere close to a minor loss. any other smithy's find a way to lvl past 73?

on a side note I believe the reason darksteel gear is so worthless is because those damn lu shang fisher bots keep fishing them up ><

hehe.. good luck finding an item that doesn't lose money when you skill up past 73.... at best you can sell the normal items on AH at break even... if you're lucky, you get a few +1's on skillup items. but with most other crafts... just take the loss on skillups.. make money crafting lower lvl items or HQ weapons...

I've decided to take the kabura arrowheads to lvl 79. its working well so far, each synth requires a tama-hagane and a iron ignot. pretty cheap compared to everything else if you ask me. iron ignots are practically free if you desynth leather belts (req 12 leatherworking) and quadav plates for them. I figure it costs around 10-12k(depending where you get your tama-hagane) per 2 synths and you get a 5k return on that, so it ends up at around a 3k loss each synth. skillups can be quick (in my opinion) if you craft on fullmoon earthsday or windsday. am I wasting money, or is this the way to go?
