  • How well do you know the fellow crafters in your city? (or on your server)

How well do you know the crafters in your favorite haunt? (no need to post names) Do you know them at all from crafting with them, or just from AH records? I do most of my Alchemical crafting in Bastok, and know about 7 other mid to high level alchemists there, 2 only from auction house records.

Some I curse, like the level 67 blm taru who always buys goblin masks for 1k, and logs on enough to make sure there's never a Tonberry lantern for sale ever in Bastok.

Others I wonder about, like the level 75 whm who will craft 12 stacks of silent oil at a time (which she easily get HQ results), and do it every other day.

And then there's the crafter who always makes fire based magical weapons, and keep at least one or two high priced inferno axes, flame claymores, or fireswords in the AH that just sit there until there's none left, then sell to someone raising a sub for a large profit.

There's also the mid level Mithra alchemist who I see trying to gain skill from fixing glass rods, and dominating the market for them... and if course the young alchemist who owns the deodorizer market in Bastok unchallenged

What traits have you beena ble to pick up on from your fellow crafters, and how do you feel about them? Other than the normal cursing of a competitor?

Being the owner of a shell full of serious Crafters, i've noticed that most of them are quite friendly. Of course some are a bit harsh in the tone they use sometimes, but even they're still pretty friendly. We don't always talk about crafting but crafting seems to give each of us an excuse to do things together. Not only do we have fun while crafting, we also know when someone's selling something at a certain price and such. This way, we'll know not to sell under that price if possible so both people profit.

I would really love it if more of the crafters on Midgardsormr joined my shell as well, but I don't like forcing things on people. And so far, it's been working pretty nicely. Even the members that put the pearl on once or twice a day or so, recognize some of the others and when playing with them, treat them as a friend instead of a stranger.

As for me personally, i'm the curious sort. When I see someone crafting something that I haven't seen before or normally see, I usually ask them what their skill level is and how they make it. Most of them are pretty nice and tell you how. I've met a lot of Japanese crafters this way (one of them i've convinced to join my linkshell even though she has her own) who've taught me a lot of interesting things. I was pretty much one of the first (if not the first) NA player to learn how to make the country equipment (San d'Orian Vest, Windustian Gi, Bastokan Targe, etc) because of my curiousity.

I've also tried to compete with some of the other crafters i've met, but the only crafter anywhere near my level now in my choice of craft is Mithrael. And I already have something planned and no long really feel like competing.

I fish. Surprizingly enough, most other fishers are very quiet and dont ever move/talk/respond in any way.

Well... I suppose you know them, in a fashion

Only thing worse than a bot who never talks is a bot programmed to respond to speech. Spam you to hell.
