Quite nice how nobody has responded to your question yet. Here's what I did to get started (there are other methods but this wasn't too expensive). Always use adv support when more than 3 under the cap. Be prepared to buy a lot of wind crystals or farm air elementals in Tahrongi or Latheine. Note that the overlap allows you options, especially when there's a shortage of materials.
0-2 Arrowwood Lumber
0-5 Maple Lumber
2-8 Ash Lumber (save for bolts)
8-15 Bronze Bolts (cheapest boltheads)
8-16 Bloody Bolts (2nd cheapest)
13-21 Maple Sugar (used it to make apple pies for cooking)
21-27 Iron Arrows (you'll hate this, big loser)
21-30 Silver Arrows (expensive but not huge loser)
30-39 Beetle Arrows (take the high failure rate, profitable)
35-42 Fang Arrows (profitable)
40-49 Horn Arrows (profitable)Rank: 5

Maybe just a suggestion... from 21-29, i am doing Shihei instead... and in fact earning gils from doing it to rasie my skills. It's a component for ninja blink skill, so it's selling pretty fast.
If you farm your own wind crystal, you could make around 1k or break even, no losing of gils there.
