  • With 100k to put into weaving...

Will that get me to a point where I can make profit, enough so I can keep buying supplies and keep practicing?

Anotherwards, will 100k be enough to invest into the craft and then never have to put more into it because I just keep making money off what I craft?

    Thanks

That's alot of gil (to me).

Yes, I believe it will. I am REALLY low level clothcraft (lol, so don't listen to me, lmao) but I think it would, that least up to the money making part... =/

I don't really think it will...with most of the guilds you need to get up to levels 35+ to start making some profit...unless you farm most of the items yourself 100k won't be netting you any real profit from my experience.

I say u'll probably get to about 20-25 with 100k if u do some farming also... it takes a lot more than u think to lvl a craft and as the posters above said u need pretty high lvl to start making some money of it...

I spent 150k-200k just to get to lvl 28, and I farmed some of my stuff. At lvl 28 you don't make enough gil in clothcraft to keep going, you must get the gil yourself by farming. I don't expect to make any real gil till lvl 40.

It only cost me 40k gil to get from lv.8 to 28, and I made that back in less than 24 hours -.-; I'm where i'm at now only as a function of time. So far, i'd say it's taken me about 10 hours to get from 8-28. Maybe 5-6 to get from 1-8, since i wasn't really focusing on leveling it, just doing random synths when i ran into ingredients.

Lv.0-4, kill yagudo to get wind crystals and necklaces, break down the necklaces into thread, use the thread to make cloth. you can buy the necklaces if you want, but you'll lose a little money. keep all the cloth you make.

Lv.5-11, wind + 2 grass cloth makes a hachimaki, sell to NPC. You can hunt the necklaces or buy the cloth, it's cheap.

lv.11-22, wind + 2 yagudo feathers = 6 bags of yagudo fletchings. 12 yag feathers go for 200 gil, and 12 fletchings go for 500 gil in san. make, mule, sell at ah. you gain money on this recipe, and you can go from 11-22 in 2-3 hours. You'll blow up almost everything until you get to lv.12, but you'll get occasional skill gains of .3. at a loss of a whopping 32 gil per synth, it's okay to lose everything for a while.

lv.22-25, this is where you lose your money unless you want to wait for stuff to sell at ah. There are profitable recipes available, but they take time to sell. The cheapest recipe is heko obi, 2x cotton cloth + grass thread. Shinobi-tabi is nice too once you get to 24, it's 2 cotton cloths, a saruta cotton, and a grass thread, sells for 5k a stack pretty much everywhere.

lv.25-35, make wool thread. make your own wool from 2 sheepskins + wind crystal or buy it from ah. lightning + 2 wools = wool thread. wool thread goes for 1800 gil a piece in san, or 15k a stack in windy. it sells fast. if you buy your own wool you may lose some money, if you make it this is pure profit.

35-42, bird fletchings, 2 bird feathers + wind (again, sells fast in san and for higher than your cost.)

42-52, insect fletchings, 2 insect wings + wind. same as the other fletchings, sells fast and at higher than cost.

If you are willing to hunt your own wind clusters (the most expensive part of leveling cloth) 100k will easily take you up to lv.52. After that you need to either farm supplies or accept to break even/take losses. Nearly all of the big money-making cloth recipes require you to have goldsmithing skills.

I thought you couldn't make wool until you were a novice and you can't become a novice until lvl 28.

Whoops, I never saw this way back when Jonnoj wrote this. I got redirected here by another question.

I don't know of any recipe that you can't make 10 levels before it caps. Your losses will be kinda high until you're within 8 levels of the cap, but since the selling price of a single wool thread pays for a wind cluster and most of a lightning cluster it's worth it to fumble through 25-27.
