  • FISHING question!

Will i skill up faster at fishing skill 13 fishing cheval salmon...or moat carp. I see that moat carp are worth more than salmon. So does that mean i will catch a lot more salmon. Also should i use a lure to catch these salmon instead of bait like insect paste. Thank you

At level 13 fishing you won't skill up at ALL on Moat Carp (they become Trivial at level 11).

Best bet for skilling up with Cheval Salmon at 13:

Fly Lure, Composite Rod in East Ronfaure. You'll get Cheval Salmon and the occasional Shining Trout, both of which can produce skill gains for you (very rarely on Shining Trout, though, since they are a level 31 fish).

Alternate locations you can fish in if East Ronfaure is overfished:

Ghelsba Outpost (recommend you be at least level 25 on your main job because of monster pulls)
Jugner Forest/rivers (recommend you be at least level 40 on your main job because of monster pulls)

Try to avoid the above two if you can, however. East Ronfaure is definitely the best since you don't waste time fighting monsters while fishing.

I've fished for sheval salmon and shining trout at Jugner river for hours and I have never pulled up a mob. I've talk to others with the same experience. I haven't tried the lake myself, but others have said you can pull a mob from it. But as far as I know, Jugner river is a great place to fish, as I've never seen anyone there before.

Moat carp cap at 11 so no more skill ups for you off them. If you are getting skill ups fishing for them, it is most likely off of Gold Carp which cap at 56. I would suggest fly lure in east/west ron and jugner forest river. You will NOT pull monsters out of the river, only the lake. Hard part is finding a place you won't get aggrod in the jugner forest. Also, bring multiple Fly lures because they do break, and any rod less than a composite rod will break too (Mithran included). I think I went though 1 fly lure every hour or two.
