Skill Limit

On FFXI MysteryTour, in the crafting charts it has a Skill Limit for each item. What does it mean?

Also, I'm starting on Clothcrafting and eventually going to get into the Culinarian's Guild.. What should I synthesize to build my skill and be useful at the same time?

The skill limit is the highest level you can still gain skill points in crafting when you make that item. So for example (the numbers arent exact) bronze ingot has a skill cap of level 3. That means you can make them and once you hit level 3 in smithing you won't gain anymore points towards your next synth level.
