  • Mining for Stuffzors...

Anybody got some prime locations of where to mine, what a certain location or area yields, and at what level they become safe to just walk around looking for spots?

    umm, bastok mines.
and probably anywhere else w/ mines in its name.
Is that the scent of love in the air, or merely formaldehyde?

There are five big places for Mining, and two of them are quite unsafe.

The lowest-level and easiest place to mine is Zeruhn, off of the Bastok Mines District. Here you can find Pebbles, Copper, Tin, Zinc, Silver, Iron*, and rarely Darksteel Ore. The only aggressive monster in this zone is the Giant Amoeba (~level 7).

The next step up is Palborough, in the Northeastern corner of North Gustaberg. Here you can find Pebbles, Copper, Tin, Zinc*, Silver, Iron, Mythril, and rarely Platinum Ore. There are Mining Points on all 3 levels of the mine, and you will not be able to make it to all of them without any agro until level 33.

Third, far away near San d'Oria, is the Yughott Grotto. I have less experience here, but you can apparently find Gold Ore and Colored Stones here on occasion (though the times I did mine there, I lost a lot of pickaxes. Might have just been a bad day). You'll need to be about 30 or above again to avoid all agro.

Fourth is Gusgen. Gusgen is a dangerous zone, even into the 40s. But here you can get the higher-end ores with greater frequency (Darksteel), and Colored Stones.

Finally, there is Ifrit's Cauldron. Extremely dangerous zone on the continent of Elshimo, and the source of very high level ores like Orichalcum.

The Grotto is very similar to Palborough, with the same level range in monsters.

The rare yields are Gold, Colored Stones, and Darksteel. The common yield is Iron, with a lot of Copper, Tin, Zinc to mix. The bad yields are pebbles and flintstone.

It's a bit of a tradeoff. In Palborough you get lots of Zinc and a few Platinum. In Grotto you get lots of Iron and a few Gold. Iron is more valuable than Zinc, but Platinum is more valuable than Gold.
