Quick Question about fishing gains

Alright, I've been fishing W Ronfaure for the past little while and I have 7 skill right now (11 with my gear).


Now, if I were to go fish Cheval Salmon in E Ronfaure... would I get skill gains at my level?

I realize I probably wouldn't catch them that much (if at all) but I'm wondering.

I'm using a Composite Rod + Whatever lure you recommend (haven't bought it yet).

I'm interested in Skill gain over gil gain.

You would, BUT it would take longer than skilling up on something closer to your level since your raises in skill only come w/ bites -- and since they're higher than your skill by a bit, you'd be getting fewer bites.
