  • :: Goldsmithing 21-30 :: Please Help Me

    I'm having a really hard time gaining any trade skill points for golsmith after lvl 21. I've been making onyx earrings, opal earrings, clear earrings, and I VERY rarely get any points. This seems rather peculiar since these are extremely expensive to make and I'm still not getting points. I even had the wrong recipe for a silver earring at first and kept trying to make a silver ring instead... finally after several tries it succeeded (10 lvls above what I should be making) and THAT didn't even give me any points! If someone could give me some good tips on raising my goldsmithing lvl from 21-30 that would be so helpful! Thanks in advance.

    Try a... simpler recipe. Something with not quite so many expensive ingredients. Fahdima should be able to let you in on at least two that would be good.

      I am not lvl 20~30 yet but from looking up the recipe list I am planning to work on silver hairpin from 20 up to 27. The recipes are:

      wind crystal (110g) + silver ingot (1600g) => silver hairpin [ 14/27 ]
      lightning crystal (90g) + silver hairpin (?g) => silver ingot [ 20/27 ]

      Silver hairpin making shouldn't fail at lvl20 even w/o synthesis imagery support. The lightning breakdown may fail a lot which I haven't experienced so I cannot tell. But thinking about the possibility that you can have zero failing rate on the lightning synthesis you are only spending money on the crystals to boost up your skill.

      I will buy a few silver hairpins if they are not too expensive when I hit lvl 20 and experiment on the lightning synthesis. If someone has done the same please give some advice :spin: .

        Breaking things down with Lightning Crystals fails quite often, even when your skill is relatively high.

          that's not a bad plan, it's what I used until 26 or so.

          best way to do it is to get stacks of silver coins (drop from tier2 beastmen, like yaggie pipers, can be stolen from tier 3, like yaggie priests) and use those to make ingots (this should boost you up to level 18 or so as I recall). then turn around and take all those ingots and make them into hairpins, and -try- to make the hairpins back into ingots. (The breakdown synth will fail a lot... but it's still easier and cheaper than getting more silver.)

          I've since slowed down on levelling with these, so at 29, I'm making some worthless ninja tool, with 1 silver ingot and 1 copper ingot... i sell them to npc's since they don't sell to players well at all on midgardsormr.

          the trick to powerlevelling a craft is to find the cheapest thing to make, or at least something you know will sell. (Cooking has an advantage here, since their stuff is consumed.. but you really don't need to spend 5k making a ring, and then have it not sell because 20 other people have them on sale.)

            Thanks Echo

            I forgot to mention that if one of the silver hairpins ever got HQ in it.. whoa, you get something. :p +mp items sell really good in Sandoria. So keep the HQ hairpins and breakdown the regular hairpins and continue crafting

            I did the same thing for brass ingot and brass hairpin in the same fashion. I got brass hairpin +1 and have sold it for 5k in sandoria :sweat:
