  • When to reel in (fishing)

Observation from two days of hardcore fishing:

Fastwater + sabiki for sardines/quus/yellow globes: Reeling in (hitting enter/mouse button) when the rod is fully bent seems to catch more.

Moat carp: Reeling in almost as soon as the fish bites seems to catch more.

Is this just a coincidence, or do different fish require a different ideal time to hit the button?

    Probably coincidental.

I'll bet that the results you see are affected alot more by your fishing skill and the moon phase than anything else.

      hmmmm

I have noticed this myself. I feel like if I hit enter as soon as it displays the something caught the hook message, I usually loose the catch and have a better chance if it was starting to show the reel in animation. not sure if it is coincidence or not. I understand fishing skill and moon phases, but neither of those change that quickly when I'm doing fishing every 20 seconds or so.

        Sorry

I remember actually keeping track of 40 "Something is on your hook" 's and I took an average based on how fast i reacted and reeled in.

The results where, as you might suspect, insignificant. Stick with the moon and such.

        Post hoc ergo propter hoc
