  • Mining in Gusgen?

Which level do you think I would be able to go to Gusgen and mine without my gear and not aggro anything? Looking into buying the field gear and get started with mining as a new source of money.

    Thanks.

Gusgen? Mid-40s+. (For all the points.)

I have a friend @ 41 that brings along pickaxes when he heads into Gusgen and runs across a few favorite points.

i'm 50 and nothing aggro's me there except for the Foul Meat whenever it pops. Mostly I just run in a circle between 9 points and fill up 35 spots in about an hour 1/2 of good ores. I'm a goldsmither at lvl 20 so I synth zinc and silver, sell darksteel and some gold, send Iron to my buddy, and throw away tin, copper and pebbles. I bring along about 3 stacks and have the 3 piece lvl 15 workers set for mining. I use about 2 stacks, sometimes cut into the 3rd stack.

          Hmm. Thanks for the replies.

So, does the level 15 worker gear make a larger difference than the field gear? I'll have to upgrade, then.

Mining wasn't worth it for me. Went into Gusgen with about 60 pickaxes. When I was done, my overall profit was about 4k.

Do mining clothes work? I've been told they only increase the rate of getting low-end ores, not the really valuable ones.

I have heard that what you mind is dependent on how many people are mining with you. when I was alone I got 2 darksteel and 1 blue rock on the first 3 tries then more people came and all I got after that was copper. Mining can be profitable if you are patient and if you can do it when only 1 or 2 other people are there with you. I was able to make 150k mining for 6 hours yet other times I mine for an hour and get about 10k.

From what I've heard, mining clothes decrease the pickaxe break rate.

that seems how it works when I use it. Can usually fill up 35 spots on 24 pickaxes with the workers gloves and boots and field tunic.

does worker really make it better than with field? or is it only better defense? :spin:

Its speculated that Defense is the only difference. This is due to the comparison of the level 1 and 15 Chocobo and Nomads clothing. Those have the same modifiers at 1 and 15.

Regarding Gusgen (Pebble, Tin, Copper, Zinc, Iron, Silver, Darksteel, Gold, and Raw Ore mine):

if youre hardcore into mining you can raise Goldsmithing and Blacksmithing to 20ish. Bring a stack of fire crystals and wind crystals with you. Combine 1 FC + 4 Iron ore for 1 stackable Iron Ingot, and 1 FC + 1 Zinc + 3 copper for 1 stackable Brass ingot while in the mines. Use 1 Wind crystal on any stone to create a stackable gem. Really saves space and allows more room for the bling bling ores (DS and Gold).

not sure if there is a difference in skill between the worker and field gear but since I had the money I just bought worker and hopefully it's better, havent compared it with field gear yet
