Fishing, stuck at level 15.

Hello, I was wondering if someone can give me a few pointers on fishing. I've been doing this for a few weeks now and having fun / good progress, but lately things have slowed down a lot. I'm currently at level 15 and the skill-ups seem to be much more apart than before.

I use a Mithran Rod. When I fish in fresh water I use Little Worms or Insect, when I fish sal water I use the Sabiki Rig or Lugworms.

Places I fish :
- Port Bastok
- Bastok Markets
- Selbina
- Mhaura
- Qufim
- Port Jeuno { Airshop docks }
- Kazham { Airship dock }

I've bought some lures, but I'm guessing these will be used later since they produce very little result.

I've only caught these so far:
- Rusty Bucket & Leggings
- Bastore Sardine
- Moat Carp
- Crayfish
- Yellow Globe
- Greedie & Fat Greedie
- Quus



Please tell me how I can improve, or if this is normal and I should just push on :spin:

Level your subjob.

This would break your mithran rod:
Composite fishing rod + Trout ball + Jugner forest river + New moon 0-10%

Chevel salmon will take you to 21, plus you need one for the level 18 test. Fly lure might work, but I've had better luck with eadible bait. Jugner river hasn't given me any monsters, but the lake has.

Trying not to ask a stupid question, but am confused as to what the subjob has to do with the fishing skill?

I am kind of in the same boat and am around 14 or 15 now.

I love that applet, have it as a web page on my desktop on my laptop so I can plan when I can fish after work!!

I don't think your subjob level has anything to do with fishing - it was just a reminder to keep up his (and your) subjob levels - people tend to slack with them cause they don't know the benefits of having a leveled subjob.

Is the fat greedie for a quest or something? My brother caught one and needs to know. It's not in his guide because I think it's part of the expansion or his guide just sucks.
