Smithing and Mining

If you have a someehat high lvl in smith does that effect mining at all? Like the higher the smith, the rarer the ore?

Reason I'm asking is because I seem to get drk ore quite often now then before.

I'd also like to know about this, I heard that higher lvl smithers also have a much lower chance of the pickaxe breaking, have you noticed anything like that?

Yes but with the field gear on it also, if not mainly, helps to lessen the breaks of axes.
