Lu Shangs Fisihg Rod

I was on the boat between selbina and muhara, and a guy next to me just synthesised 3 Lu Shangs Fishing rods!

I thought that those were only available thorught a quest! if anyone know the recepie and the guild please tell becasue i am very confused:confused:

he buys them broken and fixes them...it says same thing as when u creat entirly new stuff..only way to get lu shangs is thru quest in which you need 10,000 moat carp (about 4k for 12 on odin server)

Are you telling me that if you manage to get 10,000 moat carps (which would take months, or millions of gil) your reward is a breakable fishing rod? WTF??? Please tell me those rods don't break. If they do, what's so damn special about them that anyne with half a brain would bother with that quest? :mad:

lol they break not very often...and u use em till they break so your fishing skill is high enuff to repair it .....i know a level 70 with level 62 fishin skill and he has been saving moat carps..and he has only given 1800 XD

the point of the rod is to be able to catch big time super rare fish for very very high end quest. you need at least 65+ fishing to use it properly, and 70+ carpentry to repair rod when it breaks. This rod wans't meant to be something you can accuire in a week or so. it's something meant to sorta be the end game thing, like when you got 1-2 lvl 75s, rank 10, etc.

with 4 successful low level NM hunts..i can get that rod now....i am sure it wouldnt work good..because fishing is at level 2 for me but it would make me wanna get to high level fishing =)

Just curious - I have been fishing forever, got enough bastore sardines (using fastwater fishing rod and sabiki rig in Port Windurst) to max out my windurst fame However, even after all this, my skill just yesterday reached level 4.

Any advice? I'm getting a bit discouraged...a progression chart would be nice, like what rod/bait to use, when to fish and where, to get this darned skill up.

talk to the people at fishing guild to see the best spots for current level....other then that it just takes time...they will give u new location(s) once every 2-3 levels.....you might wanna up grade your fishing equipment accordingly to what they say also

Umm, bastore sardines will raise your skill all the way to 10. Then move on to something different. You need to do lots and lots of fishing before you reach that.

Hehe, my skill does go up every once in a blue moon - now I'm fishing for bastore sardines to give to guildees who also want fame, haha!

Question - if I use the fishing augmentation, do I have a better chance at skill ups, or just a better chance at catching something?

no its definatly 10000 i talk to jp peoples about it..and if it were only 100..there would be alot more people w/o mithran rods and fiber rods and more people with lu shangs.......
