id go with either blacksmith or goldsmith because every1 uses jewelry and every1 needs weapons/armor, while some ppl use staves/bows (carpentry) alot more use swords, axes, daggers, h2h, scythes, spears, etc...
same applies to cloth and leather armor, i think alot more ppl are looking for the metal stuff so my final vote goes for blacksmithing.

On my server(Midgardsormr), all the crafts lose money, big time, until higher skill. The one craft that seems to rake it in the fastest is Alchemy. The items they produce are used up quickly, so you don't have market-flooding problems like you do with other crafts that produce primarily re-usable items(armor, weapons, jewelry, clothing, etc).

i am still newibe at FFonline. i guess goldsmith or blacksmith making money cuz alot people would need better armor or weapon or jewelery to ensure themselves for better protection or more direct damaging equipment
"There is nothing wrong to think ahead of time."

On Midgardsormr I've been making a lot of money just mining for ores and selling them directly to the AH in Bastok or to my mule who is in San d'Oria.
If I ever get three Copper Ores and a Zinc, I'll immediately create them into a brass ingot to gain some skill levels. Same goes for Iron Ingots since Zeruhn Mines is full of them.Pure genius is the ability to convert thoughts to actions.

I would suggest its Food.
Sure, as Goldsmith or Blacksmith you make things everybody needs. But there is also a continious supply. Where most newbie items leave the trading circle (people just throw away or sell to shop the 200gil item), the most valueable items stay in trading circle from creating to server shutdown because they never decay.
So due to the item inflation in the end, only those guilds will make still provite which produce consumed items. Over the time, the prices from all crafted gold and blacksmith items will lower to production price.

On Caitsith one of the biggest money makers is fishing, on an average day i can make about 50k with my fishing lvl only around 23 and i am not just fishing for moat carp either, i pick out the decent selling fish from the AH that will give me lvl points as well.
Its works for me, and it funds all my other crafting in the process!

no craft makes real money until high skill. normally people save up a lot then start crafting nonstop for a while instead of spend all ur gil now get like .1 then level a bit and craft again. YOu would end up like all those people without up to date spells/equip which is really annoying.
EDIT: Fishing is exempt from what i am talkin about. Fishing is actually a really good money maker since skill 1. Spend about 2k on glass fiber rod and 1600 for 4 stacks of insect paste fish up like 3 stacks of moat carp worth 12k all together so it is a good money maker

odd... i've been making money with clothcraft since level 14 skill... and i got that almost completly off farmed yag necklaces... had to do a brief stop to do cotton... and i'm on midgard, so nyah!
but seriously, if you craft wisely (farm materials, look for lower prices on materials, higher prices on finished goods) you can make money on just about any crafting, so many people try to force their way through crafting by going to the AH at the town the guild is in, and cleaning it out, and generally raising the price of an item in the process, just to get like five points of skill and then underselling the end product just to move it out the door quickly, which is just bad for everyone but the people needing the end product....
and remember, not all crafts have an actuall guild in the game ^^
