  • Broken fishing rods..?

oi! I'm gonna go crazy without an answer. heheh

Does anyone know what you can do with broken fishing rods?

I noticed that when the hachet breaks, it disappears from the inventory. Why does the rod stay after it is broken?

I know it can't be there just to taunt me!....can it?

...and anyone got any beginner tips for building fishing lvl in San D'oria? I fish in the moat for moat carp and go through stacks of yew and bamboo rods.

Please pull me out of my chair of ignorance. ha

First beginnger tip is dont' fish in sando, and do expect your rod to break VERY often. Sando has some pretty big fish in there that can snap your rod easily. Bastok and windurst are great places to fish if you use the right bait, and surely your rod will snap less than they do in sando. Start with cheap rods and little worms, which are the most affordable. Hunt goblin fishers for rod. I got in excess of 10 rods once by stealing willow rods and getting drops from gob fishers. Then buy worms, they are like 2 gils each at windurst port. Now fish your ass off.

Btw, you can fix broken fishing rods with a light crystal. If the synthesis works, then you repaired your rod, if it failes, you destroyed the light crystal and there is a possibility you also lost your broken rod. I do not suggest doing this on bamboo rods since ligth crystals costs just as much if not more than a new rod.

Around windhurst you simply start going for the better rods. Its not worth it to fix it yourself really, someone else does with higher craft skill.

At the auction house a fastwater rod, which is an upgrade to the bamboo rod, sells for around 800 - 900 gil while the BROKEN fasterwater rod sells for around 700 gil.

This trend continues on the more expensive rods. Generally the more expensive these types of rods are, the more the broken one sells for as well. I had a glass fiber one I got for around 1500 or less that finally broke =/ I sold it broken for 1000.

I'm going to see if the carbon one breaks, then the ones after that such as composite. These were suggested to me but become rather expensive. It seems that while I fish for moat carp, which I sell for 4k a stack, that it might be best to use something like the fastwater rod on which I'm only losing 100 - 200 gil if it breaks, since it lasts a bit anyway.

The glass fiber rod caught quite a few moat carp before it finally broke on something, about 16 k worth.

thats why I said the fix should only be used on more expensive rods...

Yeah, but I was saying the opposite I was just not clear.
I meant not worth it for the craft skill involved.

The price a broken more expensive rod sells for is often nearly what a non broken same rod sells for. If I remember right, you also gradually need insanely higher skill on each better rod in order to "fix" it.

At least someone suggested to me in game that it took rather high skill. Hmm.. wonder if there is a chart of needed skills in what trades to fix what broken rods?

ah thanks nukeo. Your expression about your amount of English skill cracked me up.

Yeah, so I sell fastwater broke rod for around 700 and buy a new one for around 800. Or I'd need woodworking 52 to fix it myself.. ouch.

Hmm glass fiber is not insane though, for as long as the one I bought lasted me before it broke. 25 alchemy? Hmmm.

usually crafting needs loss gil. craft workers think how to make loss little.and if fail crafting , rods wont be destroyed as other crafting. some japanese said. then cost is only light crystals
other crafting needs more expensive elements. and they maybe destroyed or cant make enough money.in short, the cost is higher than fixing rods
so that craftworkers need broken rods
hmm.... i must say sorry 4 my similar to english saying
@ some more expensive rods than glass ....mix~~~? i dunno spelling
broken rod is more expensive than new one in my server
i cant recommend you guys to fix rods now
if you want skill higher, using other cheap stuff is better

the numbers that i said are limit of skill up
                4 ex)glass needs Alchemy 25lvl
you can make skill up till Alchemy 25lvl
so that about 20lvl alchemy want broken glass rod till they become 25lvl

                  OH THANKS.

So I COULD try to repair glass fiber rod earlier, 25 is just the skill up cap.

                  Thank you for explaining
